I don't know about you, but I would love to have seen just one U.S. Senator stay in Washington -- instead of going on vacation -- just to send the message that American students come first instead of their vacation! Instead each Senator could not get to the airport fast enough on Friday to start their vacations.
The public outcry about student debt shouldn't be just about the incremental costs for these borrowers; it should be about dealing with the size of the debt these costs are being added onto and the 37 million Americans with $1 trillion of existing student debt -- as well as their impact on our overall economy.
