The big green RV known as the Money Bus will be in front of City Hall tomorrow from noon to 6 pm, with financial advisors on hand to help residents learn how to budget, build savings, eliminate debt and invest for the future. All the consultations are free of charge, and you can either just show up or make an appointment online at www.yourmoneybus.com.
“In recent years, we’ve seen savings go down and personal debt skyrocket,” Mayor Healy says. “We all know we should save for the future, but sometimes we lose sight of that fact. Now is the time for everyone to learn how to pay off their debt and get on more secure financial footing for the future.”
The Money Bus is a project of the nonprofit National Association of Professional Financial Advisors Consumer Education Foundation, and its appearance in Chilltown is part of the city’s Financial Literacy Week, which started yesterday and runs through Oct. 23.
“Too many people are unsure of what the future has in store for them financially,” the foundation’s chairman Michael Joyce says. “What we are trying to communicate is that people should be focusing on what they can control — their debt and savings.”
