The July heat wave is behind us, and August is in full swing. For many, August feels like the month of last hurrahs -- squeezing in a few more barbecues, beaches, and weekend getaways before Labor Day and that old "Back to School" mentality sneak in to end our summer fun.
But that is precisely what makes August the perfect month to really have fun and experiment with your look. Even though you're all grown up, it is still okay to think of August as your summer vacation, even if you can't get out of town. Now is the time to really go for that big change you've been promising yourself since New Years (a la Beyonce, whose chop made my hairdresser heart leap with joy!). Get that bob you've wanted since you saw the Great Gatsby in May -- or the bangs you were too afraid to sweat through in July. Change up your color. You might not have set foot on a beach, but your tresses can still look sun-kissed.
You say you did get to the beach? A little too often? Well then if your hair is showing a little post vacation wear and tear, this month is the right time for some TLC. Put a deep moisturizing treatment on your to-do. list, and instead of your usual "trim" embrace a full hair cut. You might be amazed at what beautiful hair is hiding just above those ravaged 4 inches of "ends."
There is still plenty of fun to be had in August! And a new look will have everyone asking, "What did you do on your summer vacation?"
