Microsoft's Xbox 360 Game Console Unveiled in Challenge to Sony

Microsoft Corp., trailing Sony Corp. in the $6.16 billion video-game industry, unveiled its Xbox 360 console yesterday, a faster machine with more features that the company is betting will help wrest market share away from its bigger rival.

Microsoft used a 30-minute television show on Viacom Inc.'s MTV Networks to demonstrate the white Xbox 360, which will be released at the end of the year in Europe, Japan and North America. Among the differences between the new and old Xbox consoles: users will be able to connect digital cameras to the device and store music and photos on a hard drive.
