Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak coasted to a second term Tuesday after a campaign in which he boasted of his unflagging optimism for the city's future and his sound financial management.
Rybak beat Hennepin County Commissioner Peter McLaughlin, 61 percent to 37 percent, despite the challenger's claims that the public's safety was threatened by the mayor's failed leadership. Write-in bids got about 2 percent.
