Authorities were inspecting large stretches of the city's Big Dig tunnel system Tuesday after 12 tons of concrete fell on a car carrying newlyweds, killing the woman. The governor blamed the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority and said he was taking steps to fire its leader.
"People should not have to drive through the Turnpike tunnels with their fingers crossed," Gov. Mitt Romney said Tuesday. "Neither I nor anyone else could be or should be satisfied until we have new leadership at the Turnpike authority."
