Stewart expressed frustration that Americans who criticize Bush administration policy are considered to be exhibiting weakness. Ashcroft responded, "it is possible to disagree with the administration's policy in a way that does exhibit weakness." The audience, having perhaps misheard him, breaks into scattered applause before Stewart says, "Wait, what?"
