I Like ItI Don’t Like It

Senator John McCain (R-AZ), who launched an exploratory committee for an '08 presidential bid last week, appeared on ABC's This Week Sunday morning. Host George Stephanopoulos grilled McCain on gay rights and abortion, two topics of interest for McCain and his chief rival for the Republican nomination, Rudy Giuliani. McCain, who served in Vietnam, told Stephanopoulos that he was pro-gay rights, "in the sense that I think the 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy in the military is working."

Stephanopoulos pushed McCain, reminding him, "the military now classifies homosexuality as a 'defect.'" "No, I don't think they do that," McCain replied. "Yes, they do," Stephanopoulos replied.
