On Friday, a New York Times story examined Rudy Giuliani's schedule in the months after 9/11 to verify his controversial claim that, like rescue workers, he'd spent long hours at ground zero, and so was "in that sense ... one of them." In fact, the Times found, he only spent 29 hours at the terror site between Sept. 17 and Dec. 16.

What was he doing instead? Giuliani's beloved New York Yankees made it to the World Series in 2001. We decided to compare the time he spent on baseball to the time he spent at the ruins of the World Trade Center.

I love it.

Lay off my family.

Kiss my ass, Rudy!

Doesn't "character matter" anymore to the
Repukes?

Or just when a Democrat is running??

Mewling, spitting hypocrites!!

What an incredible waste of time. If he was there for 29 hours, or 290 hours, it was more than anyone writing the article or replying here on HP.

And this is bad?

1) It does matter to a team, and the team's fans, that the mayor visibly support an organization that symbolizes the city.

2) The most useful thing Giuliani could have done with respect to Ground Zero was to stay out of the way of the people who had a clue.

Oh come on, Rudy could have been struck in the head by a fly ball, he was risking his life! How selfless of him.

And what about the radios, Rudy? Let's talk about the radios!

To all of the trolls who think of this sissy-boy with a bully's mask as some kind of hero, Rudy bought 2-way radios for the NYC Firefighters that were about 10 years outdated. It wasn't his call to make, but he did. He knew best. These radios did not work inside of buildings. (Now, think about New York City for a moment. Buildings, right? Right. The whole city is buildings. To the firefighters, radios that don't let them talk with one another inside buildings are useless.) They did not let the Firefighters and Police talk with one another. Police and Firefighters NEED to communicate, during fires and especially during major emergencies. The Firefighters did not want them, and said so. The firefighter brass did not want them, and said so. Rudy knew best, of course, and gave the no-bid contract (in violation of city and state laws) to a campaign donor and bought the radios. The ones that the Firefighters and Police did not want. The ones that did not work properly. The ones with outdated technology and big price tags. On Sept. 11, the Firefighters inside the World Trade Center buildings had only these useless radios. They could not communicate with one another inside the buildings, and they could not communicate with the Police. Those inside could not hear their commanders telling them to get out because the buildings were going to collapse. They never heard the Police helicopters, circling overhead, telling them to get out because the buildings were going to collapse. They died carrying those expensive, worthless radios that Rudy bought from a campaign contributor. Blood money. Blood money. Who knows how many brave men and women died on that day because RUDY'S RADIOS DID NOT WORK?!?!?! I would say that their brave blood is on his hands, but I have too much respect for them, and too much contempt for Rudy..

So, Rudy... tell us about the radios, won't you? Tell us all about the radios.

In other words, he spent twice as much time playing as working, and then lied about it to make himself look good. Sounds like a truly qualified Republic president, if you ask me!

Hey people - be kind to Rudy. His nomination by the republican party is the best chance the Democrats have of getting the WH no matter who they nominate.

As Hillary's negative poll ratings have started to decline (by 7 percentage points since April), Rudy's negative ratings have risen steadily (by 8 percentage points since May).

Ah, Rudina - what a hero. What a ReTHUGlican.

Giuliani's New York rode the tide of Clinton's nation-wide economic and social Renaissance during the 90s, and yet Rudy claims it as his own. What a fake.

Regardless of how much time Rooty spent at ground zero, saying that it made him "in a sense...one of" the rescue workers is like saying sitting in the stands at Yankee Stadium made him "in a sense...one of" the ballplayers.

So, if he's president will he go to the games of all 30 teams so as to not create a conflict of interest?
