Strip Podcast Blog:

With the annual Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon in Vegas next month, I wanted to interview Lewis. I figured I'd do a Q-and-A for Newsweek, use some of it for my Las Vegas Weekly column and play the audio on our celeb-interview podcast "The Strip."

So I emailed his management to arrange the conversation. And Lewis' PR guy, Rick Saphire, wrote back promptly: "Any interviews related to the MDA Telethon, must be scheduled through the publicity office of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. I can schedule general, career related interviews, but Mr. Lewis gets a sizable fee."

QFT on that..Lot better things to spend twenty thousand bucks on than some old guy who really wasn't that damned funny anyway..

I have heard, from those who should know, that he is not a very nice person, and I believe it! The telethon, although a "good work," is also a narcissistic exercise.

He got really big a few years ago because of some kind of thyroid condition.

Too bad.

He looked great up until then.

Do you mean 20,000 Francs? Who else beside the French care?
11:59 AM on 08/20/2007
(a) Jerry Lewis is not Paris or Lindsay

(b) Major newspapers and magazines -- the legitimate ones -- do not pay for interviews, not even with Paris or Lindsay.

(c) From the screen shots available at thestrippodcast.blogspot.com, it does not appear that there is any suggestion that the money goes to charity.

(d) If Jerry Lewis doesn't want to do interviews, that's fine. But his spokesguy shouldn't lie about it and claim all these "heavy hitters" do pay.

Does the money go to Lewis or to the charity?
11:15 AM on 08/20/2007
Yeah, but $20,000 is still nothing compared to interviews with Paris and Lindsay.

It's his time and he can charge whatever he wants for it. Having stated that...

Damn, that's a big number. Leads me to two conclusions:

1) Jerry doesn't like interviews.

2) Jerry don't need the money.

Who cares any more about watching or listening to Jerry Lewis?

The fee works for it gives Jerry privacy.

One, why this post on Jerry, but not on others who charge alot of money for interviews and speeches. Example, Al Gore got paid $100,000 for one-night giving a speech. Clinton made $100,000 for one speech. Jerry Ford use to charge an extraordinary amount.

Two, they did NOT indicate if Jerry pockets all the money or if much of it, maybe even most of it, goes to his favorite cause, the MDA.

Just a couple of questions I have. I do believe in fairness.

Gore and Clinton were leaders of the free world.

To compare them to Jerry Lewis is a bit of
a stretch.

Don't you think??

Remember, he's a GENIUS in France!
