White House Steps Up Fight To Keep Millions Of Deleted Emails Secret

Associated Press:

The office has prepared estimates that there are at least 5 million missing White House e-mails from March 2003 to October 2005, according to the lawsuit filed by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, a private advocacy group.

In court papers seeking to end the case, the Justice Department said the White House Office of Administration has no substantial authority independent of President Bush and therefore is not subject to the disclosure requirements of the Freedom of Information Act.

As the Bush leadership undermines the Constitution and satisfies the interests of the few and entrenched power centers, this poisonous, secretive behavior is being emulated by citizen leaders at all levels of the Republic. Governors, State legislators, County officers, Mayors and school board members are becoming more secretive in disclosing how tax funds are allocated and expended. Mistakes are commonly being covered up.
The Fourth Estate (Press) has become virtually extinct in attending to and investigatiing government activity. And the over-extended citizentry has no leisure or other time to independently participate and monitor our government. Therefore, governmental processes are being taken over by powerful union-controled bureaucracies and self righteous, opportunistic politicans who promise every thing and leave indebtedness, higher taxes and more civil servant control and previlege.
Our next President will be confronted with leadership prone to closed, arbitrary decision making and an emerging Mandarian Civil Servant Class that has made their own power and self interest the national interest. All American leaders need to know the Ancient Cninese experience of the conjoint rule of a civil servant class and dynastic monarchs that left a blank page of over 1000 years in Chinese history. Presently, we are speeding blindly in the same direction of governance.
