Stopping in Iraq was a side trip. Bush was on his way to APEC in Australia.

It would have looked really, really bad if he had gone all the way to Australia without stopping in Iraq to say howdy to the troops.

7 hrs. in iraq, thats 7 hrs more than he spent in vietnam. just speculation here --- but i think he was there to prep the generals on what to put in the report. 7hrs is a long time, i'll bet he was glad to hear that he was rotating home. not that anyone missed him!

It is amazing that these troops were so high on the Deserter chief...He made the rounds & photo ops & then was gone to the pow wow in Australia. May be the commanders & the soilders are so convinced that they are going to bring democracy to Iraq. Well, the sectarian violence goes on, soilders keep dying, Iraqi civilians lose their lives by the hundreds, billions kep down the drain ...hey no problem Booosh insists he was right to invade & he will prove it.
Nothing much will change in Iraq & the Commanders including Petraus dont have the balls to tell the truth to the Chimp. Only time will tell how successful the surge is ...so far not much have been accomplished... What a travesty that a functioing nation has been torn apart...
