Moreover, when Thompson married his first wife, Sarah Lindsey, at Lawrenceburg Methodist Church in 1959, she was already two months pregnant with their first child.

The marriage wasn't to last. Though Thompson tries to portray their 1985 break-up as amicable and his family says Sarah will campaign for him, we can disclose that in her original divorce writ - which until now has never been made public - she accused him of "cruel and inhuman treatment".

Her brother, Oscar Lindsey, confirmed the marriage was one of secrets and unhappiness. Like Hillary Clinton, who suffered through her husband Bill's "bimbo eruptions",it seems Sarah is standing by Fred because she shares his political goals. ...

She withdrew the petition the following March, and according to her brother, the marriage improved for a while.

But Sarah renewed the proceedings in November 1984, this time citing "irreconcilable differences".

Asked if Thompson was unfaithful, her brother replied carefully: "He has said he 'takes opportunities' [with women]. I will tell you it wasn't physical cruelty and it wasn't mental."

Well how bout those Religious Right Wingers, they just can't seem to find someone with all their morals still intact! Too Bad, Bush was there hero, just shows how low some parties will stoop to keep power! Might want to ask Fred if he likes to visit the mens room at the airport before you put that crown on him.

Sadly, you are incredibly wrong. Americans are remarkably stupid and will vote in droves for Fred because they've seen him on TV. He is our next president. On the up side, at least he willl have to inherit the disaster that W has left to us.

Fred show the Christian Reich your BIG QUEER communication's director Traynham, who was "outed" when he worked for frothy anal sex leakage Santorum and his man-on-dog speel.
Yeah they are gonna love him...BIGTIME!

Fred's snatch-sniffing habit isn't about 'morality;' it's about pissed off voters.

People usually vote with their gut. Party affiliation's irrelevant on this issue - Kucinich would have the same problem, for the same reason. It's nasty, and it REALLY burns female voters' asses to see power-club males rub primal gender inequities in their collective faces. They will express that at the ballot box.

I can't wait for Richard Scaife Mellon to raise the funds and Ken Starr to start the legal investigations.

Okay, so Right Said Fred married a grasping tart young enough to be his daughter. What's the problem? As long as he hasn't been caught (yet) soliciting BJs in a bathroom stall, that's just pure Republican Family Values.
Besides, I think Jeri would make a fabulous First Bimbo.

I'm a Progressive, but this is a huffpo hatchet job, pure and simple.

Big deal! Is this the best anybody has on him? Then he's still scary because he's a reasonably human Reublican with some far right leanings.

I have never heard a repulican say vote for me because I am morally superior to my opponent. if somebody can pleae show me any quote where a republcan has said that i will be surprised. the republicans do however recpognive that morals are important and when one stumbles morally there shoud be consequences. Republicans recognize we are all flawed hwever it is how you act and re-act to immoral acts that matters. democrats seem to think immoralty is not a big deal and in fact some immoral acts are not immoral. that is the difference between how the two parties deal with these issues. yes republicans are guilty of hipocricy but that is only because when they fail morally they recognize it as a failure. democrts refse o recognize their failures as falures at all therefore no hipocracy.

Exactly. Good post.

As Rush states frequently, Dems can never be accused of hypocrisy.

We are all immoral, but only Democratic presidents will be impeached for their immorality? You know, true Christian Republicans (all others are false Christians according to you), some of us call lying, stealing, sending people off to fight immoral wars, bombing innocent civilians, raping,(women, men, children, and the environment) killing, torturing people - well IMMORAL!
But that's the Democrat in us; I guess we just don't share the Republican definition of morality.

recpognive???
Cant find that one in the dictionary.

They imply they are morally superior by pointing out how morally inadequate everyone who disagrees with them is. It's the spin, dear. Like the lie about John McCain's adopted daughter, or the lies about John Kerry's military service. Which is another feature of the "morally superior", most of their moral superiority is based on lies (about themselves and others). Our country has yet to hold these liars accountable, apparently lying is no longer a moral issue in our culture.

Oh no, they will go on about how humble they are, right before they destroy someone's reputation or worse. "the republicans do however recpognive that morals are important and when one stumbles morally there shoud be consequences." But of course when they fail to live up to their own standards, they are supposed to get a pass because They Are Only Human And Everyone Makes Mistakes. And btw, whose moral standards are we using here? The so-called "morality" endorsed by the Repubs is so morally repugnant to me, it is a sick joke to call these people "moral".

It all comes down to one's definition of "morality". Me, I've got no problem with people's personal choices that don't harm others. I have a big problem with large numbers of people dying for lies, as well as my country being bankrupted while our "leaders" take a dump on the Constitution I swore to uphold and defend. Morality indeed.

Is there a protest against Thompson's failed marriage?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:00 PM on 09/09/2007

Cruel and inhumane in his marriage?

If he becomes President--and that's a mighty, mighty big "if"--"you ain't seen nothing yet," to quote his supposed role model, Ronald Reagan.

I managed to pay attention, barely, to Fred's Iowa rally broadcast on CSPAN yesterday. Holy shit, what a big, rambling, incoherent, NOTHING this guy is.

Shadow, allow me to clarify:

There's nothing women HATE more than serial hump and dumpers. Repug, Dem...doesn't matter. Irregardless of Fred's current Baby Huey aura, MI6 is correct, Toad-boy is toast.

Especially if he's up against a women whose asshole-for-a-husband-martyr status is an ironclad matter of international media record.

My only hope is that Fred at least wins the nomination or running mate slot, thereby making himself and his 'family' available to delight us all with some much-needed 'speechifyin' entertainment.

Imagine the fun as we sit back and watch Fred, Barbie and GOP friends try to stuff a whole lotta "Family Values" shite back into the distinctly rotten turkey that has become GOP's credibility rating. Pass the popcorn!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 04:41 PM on 09/09/2007

Absolutely! Being a woman, I can attest to that fact. You're right, Fred is probably toast because of this, and it doesn't much matter because I doubt he is the savior of the free world, anyway. But I must say at this point we'd be much better off voting for people, Dems and/or Repubs, based on who can actually do the job instead of who talks the best line of shit. Right now the whole lot of them seem like a bunch of flakes to me.

I don't want to MARRY any of them, I just want them to do their jobs. Unless there was some criminal action involved, I couldn't care less about anyone's personal family dramas. I've got all I can do taking care of my own business. If I want drama, I'll watch the soaps, or Law and Order ;).

As long as most of us are voting based on "wedge issues" instead of fitness for duty, we're going to have sleazy creeps who can talk a good line of shit running the show.

During the next campaign, when the rethugs tout their "family values" I hope the dems are ready to respond by naming all of the crap that has happened over the past couple of years!

so when clinton pokes his intern with a cigar in the oval offie we should ignore it because it is a private personal matter, but when a guy running for president is accused by his first wife (48 years ago mind you) of cruel treatment we shold all pay attention and investigate it to the nth degree - got it libs you are pathetic.
