Gen. David Petraeus readied his report on Iraq to a deeply divided Congress on Monday, the commander of 165,000 troops attacked by an anti-war group before he began to speak.

"Cooking the books for the White House," charged the newspaper advertisement by MoveOn.Org - an allegation that Republicans swiftly challenged Democrats to disavow.

The ad and ensuing political scuffling served as a backdrop for Petraeus' long-awaited assessment of troop buildup that President Bush ordered last January.

Petraeus job is to report his perceptions.

Rahdi al Rahdi's job was to investigate corruption in the Iraqi government ... he threw in the towel last week. Then al Maliki accused him of corruption.

Texas Hunt Oil Co. is to purge the spoils of lost lives, severed limbs, and chaos from Kurdish mother earth ww.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/09/09/business/main3244774.shtml?source=RSSattr=Business_3244774

Our bravest jobs are to tamp down a Civil War long enough for the Iraqis to stand up, flee to other Arab countries, or be killed.

The mercenary contractors' jobs are to make money for their companies, to enrich themselves, and forestall a military draft, which would result in ending the war faster than Bush can chop down a cactus.

Everybody has a job to do.

The insane wing of the democRAT party just secured the well deserved landside defeat in the 2008 elections. Patriotic Americans on the left and on the right, will not stand for this treasonous riffraff.

Some of us remember another General. His name was Westmoreland. He lied, thousands of Americans died.

Since we have a segment of the population, which is invulnerable to history and the lessons thereof, some ignorance is to be anticipated.

Patreus is probably a fine man. He is placed in an insane situation. Its lose-lose. The only remaining question is for how long the losses will be tolerated and mount.

Classic.
Liberals whine when their patriotism is questioned.
but when they question other's patriotism: Hey no problem.

Classic Victim thinking.

I havent heard any whining here except from the right. you and LibsR did just assert without argument that liberals are traitors. Yet when someone makes a play on the name, you whine about it. Did you call up Hannity or was it Limbaugh when he made the "joke" about Obama's middle name? Is there no aspect of your minds that ask "am I applying a consistent standard?" Exactly what is traitorous except being against the war. Is that in and of itself being a traitor. Do you pledge allegiance to the party. If I believe that this war is unjustified and for improper and secret agenda I might be wrong about my conclusions but would it not be unpatriotic and immoral for me to then blindly support it? If you support the war because you sincerely feel it is moral and in our best interest then I might criticize your reasoning but I would not call you unpatriotic just because you disagree.

That's odd. Earlier you said "Many seem to want us to use boxing gloves while the republicans wear brass knuckles. Cheap shots bug me but if they do it we need to start also."

The fact is, you are not now nor were you ever better than they.

Perfect! Nothing I like better when the slimy Left exposes themselves for the traitors they truly are.

Question their patriotism?

I DENY IT.

What a GREAT AD! The media is all over it and the Dems can't disavow themselves from it fast enough. Well move.on just fucked up and gave the news cycle a juicy story. And now the Rep. will bloody libs with it. Truly a marvelous day in plitics in the good old USA. God bless us.

I despair! Did the Republican leadership apologize for the swift boating of John Kerry?

What in the "hell" is wrong with these democrats. They are not responsible for what Moveon says. Pelosie and Reid prove two things: they lack political savy and the intestinal fortitude to play the rough game of politics with the Republicans. What a travesty.

I think in a nutshell they are cowed by the media which will always assume that when Republicans are in office they must be deferred to. It will start with Rush doing 3 hours a day 5 days a week picked up by Fox and then the rest of the media will docilely give credence to whatever the right says enough times and loud enough. We need to counteract the assymmetry of the propaganda war.

The problem with your thinking is General Petraeus is not a politician. He's a soldier. Also, to you it may be a game. To General Petraeus it is about defeating an enemy and keeping his men alive.

The American people will respond negatively to your twisted and perverted perspective. Pelosi knows this and wants to stay as far away from you freaks as she can.

MoveOn.org certainly got a lot of mileage out of one full-page ad.

Who knows? This might get MoveOn.org back into my good graces.

I told them to take a hike on Election Eve 2006, when they mass-emailed a message from Lieberman-endorser Bill Clinton.

If they're going to stick to their principles, they might be worth another look...

Petraeus should not be vilified. He has served and has risen in political/military rank to where he gets jobs like this one. Maybe all generals are political to a degree, so don't thump the guy. We know the report will have Bu$h fingerprints on it so lambaste him. Listen to what Petraeus has to say and judge him on that.

I figured out what he would say when we first learned he would being saying something. Apparently he said what I expected. So was it not OK to anticipate. If he had surprised me then.. but he didnt.

This ad is going to hurt the Democrats. It shows that Moveon.org is in charge. That would be like having the KKK anounce, on the front page of the NYT, that they are in charge of a politcal party.

This is great!

The republicans are loving it.

The democrats can't distance themselves from it fast enough.

Talk about the law of unintended consequences...

The MoveOn.org political action advertisment stated that General Petraeus was likely to become General Betray Us based upon his testimony. After hearing the General today, it seems that he has, by definition of the word betray, lead us astray--living up to his new nickname. Stating that he would have to confer with his lawyer in answering questions, was a curious stance. MoveOn.org's word-play appears to have been effective in, at least, suggesting that the General puts his pants on one leg at a time and that he was set up on a pedestal erected by his masters for their own purposes. General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker are giving us, I fear, just a my "Pet-Crock" report.
