Romney Camp Linked To Attack Site Calling Thompson "Moron," "Skirt Chaser"

The Trail:

A top adviser to former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney appears to be behind today's launch of a new Web site attacking GOP presidential rival Fred Thompson.

The site, www.phoneyfred.org, paints an unflattering picture of Thompson, dubbing him: Fancy Fred, Five O'clock Fred, Flip-Flop Fred, McCain Fred, Moron Fred, Playboy Fred, Pro-Choice Fred, Son-of-a-Fred and Trial Lawyer Fred.

Shortly after a Washington Post reporter made inquiries about the site to the Romney campaign, the site was taken down.

Before it vanished, the front page of the website featured a picture of a regal Thompson dressed in a frilly outfit more befitting a Gilbert and Sullivan production than a presidential campaign. Under the heading, "Playboy Fred," the site asks the question: "Once a Pro-Choice Skirt Chaser, Now Standard Bearer of the Religious Right?"

Isn't it interesting how quickly Romney was hammered for this website - almost certainly fairly - yet the media never hit Bush in the same way for the Swiftboaters or the disgusting push polls he used against McCain in South Carolina. Bush was much more successful keeping his hands clean even though these attacks came from people with close ties to him.
I believe it was one-time GOP operative Kevin Phillips' book "American Dynasty" which details they way the Bush family has always managed to escape the kind of scrutiny that other politicians get. Very strange. Bet Romney is surprised that he isn't able to get away with this, too.

Romney is a bully and a thug to anyone who gets in his way or disrupts his day. In Massachusetts, Romney swore to uphold the US COnstitution and in the first three months, systematically silenced anyone calling his office seeking remediation of governmental violations of laws and/or Constitution, his staffers, including first "Lauren" then "Lydia" managed the process of running complaints into the ground through Romney's back offices.
But hey, Americans are hot to come out in support of the worst possible characters, then complain later about how awful their governance is. GOP is the worst for such behaviors: look how they advanced Bush over the US Constitution, now they wonder how we got into this never-ending-nationally-bankrupting Iraq mess, and of course, wonder how to weasal out of responsibility for supporting a guy who bullied the cia into writing reports to support his personal desire to invade and occupy Iraq from the first days in office [remember his own Treasury Sec Paul ONeal's complaint that he was shunned when he tried to discuss financial affairs to open discussion about Iraq ? All politics aside, what does that tell you ? And one can't but wonder how much the arrival of Bush Jr, friend of the Saudi royals (despised by the Saudi people and by bin laden) in the White House had upon the motivation to advance the WTC 2001 attack ! We MUST ask such questions if we are ever to get at truth and protect ouselves from future terrorism (since we know military might alone can't protect us).
