He's an African Muslim.

A camerman working for an Arab run network, Al-Jazeera.

Accused of being a member of Al-Queda by the American government in retaliation for Al-jazeeras coverage of Americas war crimes in the middle east.

He's been in custody since 2002, he's never been charged with anything and he's dying in American custody.

I also note that the only reason liberals are "outraged" is because they want to pile on Bush.....but pleasealso take note of whose safety and comfort they are concerned about...no mention about how these same bastards would chop off your head if given half the chance.

This is not the way America has EVER conducted itself! We have always been a leader in civil liberties and had always treated suspects humanely, acting in the belief of innocence until proven guilty. Bush has made us like those we fight, and the world which once respected and admired us, and looked to us for guidance, now hates and fears us, feeling that if they say anything we'll invade. It's extremely ironic that one of the major forces in causing the American revolution is now being practiced by the American government. And that is, "incarcerating a person without due process based on an accusation". The first article of the constitution, section 9, states: "The privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion, the public safety may require it". The detainees at Gitmo didn't invade America, we invaded their country. I doubt if the military even knows who accused them of being terrorists. I doubt if the military has any solid evidence of terrorism by the detainees. Look at Australian David Hicks. Over 5 years of torture and they could only charge him with one count of supporting terrorist, not being one. 3 British men were tortured over 2 years before they were released without charges. The British government had proof that they were not where the Americans said they were when terrorist activity was happening. What about the Canadian family man who was kidnapped from an American airport by the DOJ and sent to Syria to be tortured for several weeks. He confessed to being a terrorist and after being returned to Canada, the Canadian government proved he was never involved in terrorism. He only confessed to stop the torture. Then there was the German man who was kidnapped and tortured for weeks until the CIA realized they kidnapped the wrong man. Our government didn't even apologize.

Guantanamo is a very serious violation of human rights. The world notices in disbelief how low a country can sink within a few years.

For those braindead Americans Guantanamo is no problem. But for the majority of decent Americans it is shameful to see how many crimes against humanity are committed in their good names. One of the pillars of your political system is justice. The USA were admired around the world for generally sticking to this principle. "American Values" were regarded highly and appreciated.
