HarperCollins To Publish New James Frey Novel In 2008

Author James Frey, disgraced in a literary scandal and shunned by the publishing industry last year, has a new book deal.

News Corp.'s HarperCollins Publishers says it will publish Mr. Frey's "Bright Shiny Morning," a novel set in southern California, in summer 2008 through its Harper imprint.

Mr. Frey became notorious in publishing early last year after his best-selling memoir "A Million Little Pieces" was denounced as a fraud. The Web site thesmokinggun.com revealed numerous discrepancies in his gripping account of a life largely destroyed by drugs. Mr. Frey had represented his story as the truth, and many readers felt angry and betrayed.
