Poll Shows 1 in 3 Americans Still Believe Saddam Involved in 9/11

San Jose Mercury News:

On the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, one-third of the American people continue to believe that Saddam Hussein was "personally involved" in the terrorist assault, according to one recent poll.

Other surveys show that a larger number - 40 percent or more - believe that Iraq had some role in the attacks, or that Iraq gave substantial support to Al-Qaida.

The Sept. 11 commission and intelligence experts never found such a connection, but even after six years of reports and news accounts, the myth of a strong Iraq-Sept. 11 link persists.

Now how surprising is that. Americans believe in flying saucers, believe 9/11 was an inside job or instigated by Saddam, believe there were WMD's in Iraq, believe Sadam had a nuclear head pointed toward Israel and the US,
believe Bush did a heroic thing by invading Iraq, see McCaine. Americans need to touch base with reality. The war is wrong. The war is a mess. The war needs to be fought to victory , but not with 160.000 troops which is a drop of water on a hot stone, but with 300.000 troops. We need the draft. Once our troops come home, Bush should be tried infront of a criminal court and convicted, so this kind of wars will never happen again.

As was said earlier. This is willfull ignorance. I know a number of otherwise quite bright and capable people who believe this and many other lies. The most important thing in the world to them is to fight.....­liberals..­.yep. That is the primary enemy. They must not resemble them or agree with them in any way. If you listen to wingnut radio or fixed news enough you will see they have created a complete alternate reality. They have their facts. There own facts. You know like that meeting in Prague. Even when given every evidence that they are wrong they decide the wmd was shipped to Syria or something. This country is so divided we don't even live on the same planet. The article clearly states that the erroneous belief is held by 40% of Republican­s, 32% of Independen­ts and 27% of Democrats. Yet many comments indicate that only Republican­s believe the lie. Why is it, I wonder, that 27% of Democrats are so stupid?
