Elizabeth Edwards Criticizes MoveOn Over Petraeus Ad

Not sure it's really meant that way, but in any case, Elizabeth Edwards makes hers the first campaign to directly criticize MoveOn.org's "General Betray Us" ad, breaking with the Democrats' strategy of, basically, ignoring it.

"Someone who's spent their life in the military doesn't deserve 'General Betray Us,'" said Edwards, wife of Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

A personal attack on a general with a distinguished career is lamentable. The ad was written and published before the man even uttered a word. At least provide him the opportunity to speak before casting justment upon him. MoveOn.Org is a worthwhile political action organization. If we're fighting against intimidation, fear, and misrepresentation, then we should afford others the right to speak and present their evidence before chastising them.
The ad would have carried more weight had Move On waited until after Patreaus' testimony. There would have been something to refute.
After hearing his presentation to Congress, I feel he took part in the administration's orchestrated campaign to "stay the course" and keep the war going until Bush leaves office, so his successor will have to deal with the fallout: Constitutional issues, a $9 trillion national debt, deficit spending, a crumbling infrastructure, and the envionment.
While it's easy to complain about gas prices and the oil companies, we created this monster with our gluttony (copious consumption of non-renewable energy). It's no secret this Iraq and Iran war strategy (we'll be in Persia soon)is all about oil. WE ARE TO BLAME. We're a nation of 300 million, barely 5% of the world's population, yet consume nearly 25% of the oil. China, with a population nearly 4 times greater consumes 32% of what we do here in the U.S.

I find her preachy and given way too much leeway to voice her opinions publicly. Hillary Clinton would have been lynched by now had she done the same in Bill's day. May I remind everyone Elizabeth Edwards is not the candidate and --as has been said about someone else -- who asked for 2 for 1? Not me. She needs to shut up already. I have been meaning to write something like this for awhile because of your feckless responses and kowtowing to a president who is out to destroy this country. Why? Petraeus got what he deserves and cutting off funds for this war is the way to go because when it comes to priorities for this occupation it is contractors first and troops last. Oh, come on. Couldn't people see that it wasn't a personal slam against the General but a provocative headline related to the (predictable) content?

He testified on Bush's behalf. Of course the report would be full of generality and spin.

I really liked the Edwards a few months ago, but now I fear that Elizabeth is doing John's "dirty work" for him, and he is trying to "have it all ways!" I am sick and tired of all that BS! I want a "CANDIDATE" who is not afraid to "say what he means" and "mean what he says!" Now, this could also be in the "feminine" version, except that I do not find that Hillary does it either. She is also attempting to have it "all ways!" So, now I will put all my hopes on Obama, and see what he does. I hope I will not be totally disappointed!

She's entitled to her opinion. But I say she's wrong because what alternative do we have? What is now, 70% of the public is against the war? How many of these people are marching in the streets? Practically no one? How many are putting their butts on the line and getting arrested on Capitol Hill and in other places? Again, almost no one. So if we don't have the ads, I'd like to know what her solution is.
