President Bush was surprised by the criticism leveled against him and his administration by former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan in his new book, the White House said Monday.

Greenspan accused Bush of not responsibly handling the nation's spending and racking up big budget deficits, saying he and Congress' former GOP leaders abandoned the party's conservative principles favoring small government.

Not hard to surprise Bush. Anything that's part of our reality, like how he turned our budget surplus into a deficit, surprises him. By contrast, he's well aware that we're "kicking ass" in Iraq.

My question has always been: NOT "why do liberals/p­rogressive­s hate this president so much?" as that is obvious, BUT "why don't Republicans despise this Administration that has not just strayed from Republican values - they have RENOUNCED Republican values?"
