Cronkite Comes Back

Cronkite Comes Back

In accordance with CBS policy at the time, Walter Cronkite retired from the "CBS Evening News" in 1981 at age 65.

"Old anchormen, you see, don't fade away; they just keep coming back for more," he said during his sign-off.

Now, proving his point 26 years later, Mr. Cronkite is expected to sign with an aptly named cable network, Retirement Living TV.

The start-up channel is for people 55 and older, with shows like "Bargain Retirement Places" and "Healthline." It has attracted other television veterans, including John Palmer, formerly of NBC News; Mary Alice Williams, a CNN veteran; and Florence Henderson of "The Brady Bunch" fame.
