Audio: Limbaugh Calls Iraq Vet "Staff Puke," Claims He Volunteered For War "To Pad [His] Resume"

Audio has surfaced of Rush Limbaugh viciously attacking another Iraq war veteran who was critical of President Bush's war policy.

Paul Hackett served in the 1st Marine Division in Ramadi and Fallujah during 2004 and 2005. When he returned home, Hackett was a vocal war critic and ended up running for Congress in a special election against Republican Jean Schmidt.

The Huffington Post obtained audio of Limbaugh smearing Hackett on his radio show in 2005. Limbaugh calls Hackett a "staff puke," claims he went to Iraq "to pad [his] resume," and attacks him as "a liberal hiding behind a military uniform." Listen:

"Consider the source" is a phrase that comes to mind here, but what a total JERK this guy is. Same is true of O'Reilly, Coulter, Nugent, Hannity, Carlson, and every other right wing mouthpiece who's bullshit we have to suffer through. The same goes for the politicians they protect and speak for. The Republican party is the party of, and the party for, JERKS. What happens when you corner one of them? You get these type of statements which reveal just what these people are really like, and the depths to which they'll stoop. I have nothing left but total contempt for conservatism, and all the JERKS who espouse this kind of crap, while they do everything in their power to screw up this country. Limbaugh has the utter gall to impugn a war hero like Max Cleland, who sacrificed his LIMBS in service of his country, and who's defeat, aided by more classic republican dirty tricks, has given us Sen. Saxby Chambliss, another jerk if ever there was one. Only jerks are named Saxby. I flip a collective bird to all the conservative pundits out there, and Rush, I'd be glad to meet you in a parking lot somewhere anytime, fat boy.

Here is another liberal who hid in a military uniform so that I could pad my resume. Let's see, I spent from October, 1966 to August, 1970 in the Marine Corps. From October, 1967 to April, 1970, I was in Viet Nam with 7th Comm Battalion of the First Marine Division.

Because of my training as a Radio Telegraph Operator I had the honor of accompanying a number of different infantry units into what we lovingly called "the bush." I received a number of little silk mementos of my tour. One in particular, the Purple Heart, was memorable.

After my discharge, various questions were asked of me, to wit: Why did you waste 4 years of your life in that endeavor? Where have you been for the last four years? Why are you so far behind the other 25 year-olds, career wise? Couldn't you qualify for some kind of waiver to avoid service, after all, that guy Rush Limbaugh got an exemption? Why didn't you tell them you were queer?

Some padded resume, all right.

My dad was "a liberal hiding behind a military uniform" in 1944-45, and he earned the Silver Star and two Purple Hearts. Even for a professional motor-mouth rabble-rouser like RL, such comments are obscene. As if the Army is supposed to be a Blackwater-RNC affiliate in green uniforms!
