Dark-horse Republican candidate Ron Paul will report third quarter fundraising totals that exceed his $2.4 million take in Q2. According to communications director Jesse Benton, Paul raised $1.2 million alone in the last week during a down-to-the-wire online fundraising drive. The announcement comes after last week's New Hampshire trip for Rep. Paul, which included a rally attended by about 800 people and a major canvassing drive in the Granite State. The Ron Paul campaign expects to report its final third-quarter numbers later this week.

He's not anti-war. He's anti THIS war.

I hope I'm wrong, but I just can't see Dr. Paul getting the nomination. He is the right man for the job, as far as the GOP goes, but everything he stands for is what the GOP doesn't want in their candidate. He is a traditional Republican. The modern day guys seem to be too opportunistic. He is basically proposing to destroy all the alliances established in secret, which are ties between the wealthy and the politicians. Neither the GOP, nor any of the main stream politicians, will not be willing to give up their share of the wealth. That does include Democrats

Does this not speak volumes about the GOP?

I don't pretend to understand the Republican mind, but Paul's candidacy seems to be showing a shift in the party of some sort or another.

Why is Ron Paul a republican? Why would such a good guy be a evil republican?

Privacy and Personal Liberty

The biggest threat to your privacy is the government. We must drastically limit the ability of government to collect and store data regarding citizens" personal matters.

We must stop the move toward a national ID card system. All states are preparing to issue new driver"s licenses embedded with "standard identifier" data " a national ID. A national ID with new tracking technologies means we"re heading into an Orwellian world of no privacy. I voted against the Real ID Act in March of 2005.

To date, the privacy focus has been on identity theft. It was Congress that created this danger by mandating use of the standard identifier (currently your SSN) in the private sector. For example, banks use SSNs as customer account identifiers because the government requires it.

We must also protect medical privacy. Right now, you"re vulnerable. Under so-called "medical privacy protection" rules, insurance companies and other entities have access to your personal medical information.

Financial privacy? Right now depositing $10,000 or more in cash in your local bank account will generate a federally-mandated report to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network at the United States Department of the Treasury.

And then there"s the so-called Patriot Act. As originally proposed, it:

* Expanded the federal government's ability to use wiretaps without judicial oversight;
* Allowed nationwide search warrants non-specific to any given location, nor subject to any local judicial oversight;
* Made it far easier for the government to monitor private internet usage;
* Authorized "sneak and peek" warrants enabling federal authorities to search a person"s home, office, or personal property without that person"s knowledge; and
* Required libraries and bookstores to turn over records of books read by their patrons.

I have fought this fight for many years. I sponsored a bill to overturn the Patriot Act and have won some victories, but today the threat to your liberty and privacy is very real. We need leadership at the top that will prevent Washington from centralizing power and private data about our lives.
Ron Paul.

Galveston is a powerful advocate. I'm coming around for Ron Paul. I'm a Nader voter. I would prefer Kucinich but his candidacy is going nowhere. Ron Paul, on the other hand, is hot and could get hotter if he can bring in some new voters and inherit the defectors from both major parties.

Assuming {optimistically} that there actually is an election next year - and given the field of declared candidates from the major parties - my choice after Kucinich would have to be Ron Paul. I would never vote for him for congress. But for Chief Executive? Why not.

As matters stand, it appears the Democrats will {by no virtue of their own} achieve veto proof majorities in both houses next year. The worst elements of Ron Paul's ideology will therefore be neutralized. A Democratic congress and a Ron Paul Administration. Not bad.

And here is the bonus. Rudy and Hillary and the rat bastards that own them could SUCK ON IT.

You can click on this url and find out Ron Pauls stand on issues. He is so wrong on most of the issues, no liberal could ever say they would be for him being president and mean it.

I'm a "hard Left" Liberal, and I have great admiration for Ron Paul.... While I personally disagree with him on almost every issue, he is the only "conservative/Independent/Republican" candidate I've heard speak the truth. He comes across as honest, sincere, and a genuine old school American Conservative..... and not a lying shill in the pockets of the NeoCons.

Regardless of our agreement on major issues (or lack thereof).... IMO, he's the only man on the Republican stage with a shred of integrity, authenticity, intelligence or genuine patriotism.

I think a co-presidency of Paul/ and Kucinich could be interesting

I agree that Ron Paul is our last hope to get our country back from the crimals that have taken over our government.

I have watched bush slowly destroy this great Country over the last 6 years without anyone holding him accountable. I know how important this next vote will be. Ron Paul will give us our country back.

Not gonna happen. Why? His immigration stand of sending all illegal aliens back to Mexico or wherever will never play with Dems and most Independents. Forget Unions! If he could only moderate his immigration position, he'd be taken more seriously as an antidote to Bush. But really, how many Dems will change their party to the GOP just to vote for a guy whose immigration policy seems to have been written by the minutemen?

I've wondered, lately about this...what about, instead of just deporting folks back to Mexico, with nothing, leaving them desperate, there was a program of "repatriation" - sending folks back with microloans and business teams to help them start small businesses in their Mexican communities (auto repair, beauty shops, bicycle shops, etc) - seed Mexico with lots of small businesses, grow prosperity over time so that the people can kick their corrupt government to the curb!

In addition, NAFTA would have to go, so that Mexican farmers could reasonably complete in the world marketplaces.

Is it really better for folks to remain a permanent underclass of low-wage slaves in a hostile country, or become prosperous business people in their own land, leading to a better day?

Ron Paul is a strict state's rights advocate. The same fine folks that brought us the Civil War. Any more questions?

Well is Ron Paul from Walden Pond?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:45 AM on 10/02/2007

Not Walden Pond. He is from a small community that is called Lake Jackson along the Gulf Coast just South of Houston and West of Galveston. The district he represents is very diverse in many ways.

The 14th congressional district of Texas stretches from the Gulf Coast in Galveston and Chambers counties almost to Corpus Christi; north through Victoria; and east through Jackson and Wharton counties toward Houston. It includes parts of Fort Bend county, then slopes south through Brazoria county.

The 14th District has the distinction of being, literally, where Texas began. The first capital of the Republic of Texas was located in Brazoria county. And Texas' founding father, Stephen F. Austin, was from the small town of Jones Creek, located outside of Freeport.

Besides the 14th District's rich history, it is also home to a rich diversity of economic interests. From the petrochemical companies and rice farmers along the coast, to ranchers and cotton growers inland, from small businesses to oil producers, the district represents not only a cross-section of Texas' economy, but is vital to the nation.

I'm a lefty and I'm willing to cast my lots with Dr. Paul. If only because we need a major revolution in this country. He is our only real chance of saving our democracy from Orwellian Imperialism. Everyone else seems to have grasped the "ring" in their pursuit of power. Run Ron Run!

I am praying he gets the nomination because if he does then he will be the next president.

Middle America will have a hard time supporting the socialism, liberalism and various radical groups that have taken the Democratic Party far too much to the extreme left.

The Democratic's Party only hope is in a Biden/Dodd ticket that might moderate, balance and check the platform planks into a more common sense policy approach. The actions of FDR, JFK and LBJ (in legislative objectives) were the low points in the Democratic Party. Those three administrantions in particulaer were very socialsit in policy and practice while embroiled in constant hostility.

So half of his contributions come from military people? That must mean that they dislike ffighting in illegal, immoral wars. I'm with them.
I'll bet he gets nothing from those wonderful Neocons who are running (ruining!) our country.
I'll bet Rupert Murdock isn't on his list of contributors.
How about a Paul/Hagel ticket?
That beats anything the Democrats are LIKELY to put up.

Our soldiers over there are being abused.
Abused by the Officers, Generals and Administration.
They are told if they speak out they will lose benefits, their family would lose benefits.
They are told to shut up and stay quiet.
They are going AWOL by the thousands. Intentionally hurting themselves.

They want out and it is our duty as Americans to make this happen.
They want to know why America is not outraged at this lie that has been told.
Why only the soldiers pay for war crimes and not generals or presidents.
They want to know what America they are fighting for.
No one tells them.
They are told to shut up and stay quiet and dont ask questions and do what they are told.

Here is an idea. Everyone vote in the Republican Primary for Ron Paul. He will get the support he deserves while knocking out the bums like Rudy G, John McCain and Fred Thompson.

Of course others could vote in the Democratic Parties for some real undesirable such as Billery, and the O-Bomb-i-nation.

If the plan works then we could have a possible Ron Paul verses ??? for the final and that would be very good for the country. Good for the country does not necessarily mean good for the extremists on the left or right, but gives a hoot for socialits and neo-cons anyway.
