Limbaugh Compares Purple Heart Winner To Suicide Bomber

On the October 2 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Rush Limbaugh denounced a recent ad by VoteVets.org that featured Iraq war veteran Brian McGough, calling the ad "a blatant use of a valiant combat veteran, lying to him about what I said, then strapping those lies to his belt, sending him out via the media in a TV ad to walk into as many people as he can walk into." Limbaugh went on to say that "[w]hoever pumped [McGough] full of these lies about what I said ... has betrayed him." Limbaugh denounced the ad despite admitting "I haven't watched the ad."

In the ad, which was created in response to Limbaugh's recent characterization of U.S. service members who oppose the war in Iraq as "phony soldiers," McGough says to Limbaugh, "Until you have the guts to call me a 'phony soldier' to my face, stop telling lies about my service."

Actually, I think his comments make some sense, if you cut through the rhetoric. Think about Cindy Sheehan as an example. She was a tragic figure that was used, brutally and obviously, by the anti-war crowd. And then, when she got a little strange and started embracing America's enemies, she was dumped like a hot potato. She was bankrupted by the whole affair, her life was torn apart, and now she is persona non grata with the Democrats. The Democrats use people to get their point, then toss them aside to wither and die. Don't get me wrong, the Republican's are just as bad, all politicians are worthless in my opinion at this point in our history. But, although Rush really didn't use the best analogy, his point that the anti-war soldiers, and any other figure that can try to hammer their point home, are being used ruthlessly by the democratic party is a very good point.

Although the show delivers from what is viewed as a progressive perspective, she doesn't really take sides, believe it or not. She just gives the staright, unadulterated news.
Our troops deserve to have access to this truth.
