CNN:

Court proceedings of the investigation into the collapse of Utah's Crandall Canyon mine should not be made public, argue attorneys for the Mine Safety and Health Administration.

The records are not typically available to the public, and opening them would inhibit the amount and quality of information that could be gathered in the probe, the lawyers said in documents filed Thursday.

Let's see - miners die as a result of the use of a questionable and dangerous mining process. The federal Mine Safety Administration protects the owners who ordered the procedure that resulted in the miners' deaths. Is it just me or is this still another of the criminal activities of this lawless, corrupt and inept administration? Why do we even have to ask the question anymore?

No Mike, it isn't just you. Unfortunately, these bastards have run so rampant in this administration and these criminal acts so commonplace, this story will barely register a blip. They've worn us down, such that the majority of Americans will eat up a Brittney Spears story before they bother to actually read the above. Hope is fading fast.

Lets see, MSHA is a department of this current Republican administration and the administration stonewalls everything. So if Murray is a Republican and donates large sums of money to the party then MSHA will do everything in its power to limit the amount of information that will be made public. Why open up a large donor for lawsuits for failing to follow rules and lie. Seems to me to be the same thing this administration has done for 6+ years.

We must keep ALL government proceedings secret. That's the mark of a true democracy. Heil Bush!

THE PEOPLE all wanted less regulation, privitization, OF EVERYTHING.

Well we got it and it isn't pretty.

Remember, it's the EVIL CREEPING socialism that is the ENEMY right.

What a bunch of fools and suckers.

So now we hate our government and prey to the God of corporate greed. AND we prey that they will save and protect us.

HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!

The Rethugs and corp[orations did a great propaganda job.

I don't care about every little detail, we know the basics of his criminal actions- jus tbe sure he sees comparable jail time for, Man 2, Manslaughter or at least Reckless endangerment. Fines wont cut th emustarder on this one (which it never should when workers safety is ignored). fry you greedy bastard!

Why does MSHA care if the investigation proceedings are made public? They aren't the ones being investigated.

Unless they have something to hide.

Can anyone name a Bush appointee who wasn't also a major contributor / ranger / GOP party hack -- whatever? I mean especially in these less spotlighted agencies, it's remarkable how much the job was for sale to the richest fox lurking around the henhouse.

I can think of only two reasons to keep the documents secret.

1) They are covering up what they knew, and when they knew it.

2) They are protecting the mine owners.

The headline should read: Fed fight to protect the interest of an immoral mine owner who also contributes BIG BUCKS to Repug's. Fed’s think the public is stupid and will not understand legal terms like “unsafe conditions condoned by the Federal Agency responsible for Mine Safety.

If ever there is a more disgusting display of this President's incompetence in appointing people in his government, I cannot believe it could ever occur. This guy in charge of mine safety was never approved by the regular process, it was an interim appointment. You know, about as competent as the horse lawyer he snagged for FEMA. If we ever recover from Bush's Bungling, a new era will open to us. We surely need to remember just how sad a Republican did in leading our country. Now to insult all of us these phony cover-up tactics are making it worse and worse. If they have nothing to hide, they would be glad for the facts to get out. Remember this guy who was in charge had a horrible safety record in his own mines. Will this dolt running our government ever do anything that is right and just. Seems like the answer is a resounding NO.
