i would vote for the guy in a minute. prefer the war monger mc cain but thompson will do. 8 more years of neo cons and their wars for profits and the spineless demo congress may just break the back of the two party system that has a hold on this country.
americans have to fall out of love with the two party capitalistic economic system and another neo con as pres and a spineless demo congress may do it.
even most liberals think capitalism is good for america. economic systems and conditioned beliefs in individualism affect human behavior. ie imperialism and wars for profits.
the elitists are smiling all the way to the bank while the middle class work two jobs and brag how great capitalism works for them.
american workers now have less time off than the japanese.

Regardless of script quality & audience #'s for SNL, some say that Bob Dole didn't become POTUS because he didn't have the fire of ambition burning in his belly. The knock on Fred Thompson is that he's lethargic. In the event Fred Thompson becomes the GOP's '08 candidate for POTUS, how will he beat any Democratic Party candidate? All of the Dems have a 20 alarm fire burning in their guts to become POTUS.
SNL is still on? I thought they cancelled this show years ago.

This was a very funny skit because it was based on some of his comments. I believe that this is just who he is, and that he's actually more truthful about his feelings than the other candidates are. Although I like him better than Rudy and Mitt, I still don't believe he has a chance to win the GOP nomination. But then again, I shouldn't care much because I'm not affiliated with the GOP party.
No, he doesn't have a chance, but I agree with him being truthful about himself. The fact that people say he doesn't have a great work ethic is scary when talking about the Presidency.
Thompson hasn't a chance, but SNL hasn't been funny in decades.
I just saw 'Mean Girls' last night. Amazing how Tina Fey's script could make a movie about four hot girls seem endless.

I have a Fred Thompson bumper sticker on my car, and I wouldn't call that a ripping. It was actually pretty funny. Hammond, as usual, was spot on in the impersonation.
Fred Armison did suck really bad as Sam Watterston.
SNL nowadays is like the old Jack Benny TV show when I was a kid. It wasn't very entertaining, it wasn't particularly witty, it was sorta kinda pointless, but people laughed out of politeness & nostalgia for what a great wit the man *used to be* 25 years back.
SNL hasn't been funny since John Belushi left. RIP John.
Since I don't watch SNL or Republicans anymore ... *SHRUG*

That wasn't much of a "rip." In fact, it sucked. Stopped watching when some guy who thought he was doing Sam Waterston came out and really stunk up the place.
Some folks will laugh at anything that has "SNL" stamped on it.
Any skit that parodies Thompson's loose grip on current events is ... well....redundant.
That was the worst Sam Waterston impression possible. I think Maya Rudolph could have done a better Sam.
I happen to think SNL is better than it was when all the cast members were on drugs. But poor Daryl Hammond is the only cast member that can do impressions.
It is easy to do Thompson, you just do a Cheney impression where Cheney is really tired and slurs his words.
Sam Waterston does voiceovers, he has a distinctive voice. That makes him hard to do.
One clever idea would have been having Don Pardo do Waterston while the actor lip synched. Not trying to copy that voice, but the idea of voiceover.
A smart director would have
put on another charector. Maybe a scetch with
one of the cast doing Chris Noth or Vincent Donofrio who are easier to caricature.
