ABC News:

Comedian and faux conservative commentator Stephen Colbert has sustained a legion of fans thanks to his unique political interpretations.

On his hit Comedy Central show, "The Colbert Report," he often uses sarcasm to poke fun at Republicans and Democrats.

Viewers know he doesn't read and would much rather go with his gut when making decisions. An avid patriot, Colbert aims to inform Americans by outwardly taunting them with his misinformation. It's formula that's ignited his career from his "Daily Show" beginnings to his new book, "I Am America (and So Can You!)"

Colbert's CHARACTER Stephen Colbert the conservative pundit doesn't read and goes with his gut. Saying that Stephen himself doesn't read is just more of the dumbshit cluelessness that Colbert rails against every weeknight. ABC, you ought to hire proofreaders and editors, if not actual writers.

I love this guy and can't wait to read the book. He makes you laugh, he makes you think and he makes you laugh at what you think and think about some of the things you laugh at. Oops, guess I've watched him too often! I'd better think about that. (lol)

If you don't think Colbert is funny, if you don't "get" his brilliant satire of the self-adoring psuedo-journalist/political pundits that have infiltrated every inch of the the right-wing media/propaganda machine, then you obviously spend an immense amount of time guzzling down the swill from Faux News and idiots like Limbaugh and Hannity. It must really be unnervingthat he's making scathing jest at your heroes "sacred teachings". Or, one other possibility; your IQ is way below your average chimp. You're more than likely very close in intelligence to Chimpy, you're beloved decider. Either way your time has come. The United States of America, and it's flawed but honorable people, will survive this incidious attack from within our hallowed halls of governnance.

It also trotted out stats from Nielsen Media Research to show that Stewart's viewers are not only smart, but more educated than O'Reilly's

Colbert is a brilliant satirist, but some of his jokes are just too subtle for some. The book excerpt posted on ABC's Web site gave the conservative put-down of gays, but then he quotes poet Walt Whitman as a "man's man" when Whitman was a known homosexual. O'Reilly's audience probably wouldn't even know who Whitman was.
How sad that much of the commentary critical of this administration comes from comedians instead of mainstream media, but thank goodness we have the comedians.

The "I Am America" excerpts are laugh out loud funny, as funny as anything Colbert has unleashed on the public since his dual-action harangue of Bush and the Media during his White House correspondents dinner address.

These so-called conservatives frowning upon Colbert & Stewart have no sense of humor, and it's quite troubling. They're so busy taking themselves so seriously (and whining about everything, despite their stranglehold on power in virtually every branch of government for the better part of the decade) that they can't see through the staggering b.s. coming out of the very institutions they control. From "Mission Accomplished" to "Adapt to Win" to "As they Stand Up, We'll Stand Down" to "Return on Success" to "We Don't Torture Detainees" to "Wanted: Dead or Alive" to "Last Throes" to "Birthing Pangs...", it's like these guys are running some failed viral marketing campaign for a crappy adventure vacation package as opposed to leading a great nation free thinking individuals. Personally, I expect more from the GOP, but they've left me sadly disappointed and pretty much disgusted.

If you want a laugh, check out the comments at the ABCNews article. There's a sizable portion of America who actually thinks Colbert is a real conservative pundit.

On second thought, that's not funny.

Colbert's dead on knifing of Bush at the correspondent's dinner was the best cutting edge routine I've seen in many a moon.

Bush had to sit there and take it...it was priceless.. Long live Stephen Colbert, a comedic genius.

His tiring parody bit is running very thin and is showing signs of unimaginative writing. Ho humm, he is now another standup comic selling out for the big bucks selling faux news as an overblown ego driven / blinded bobblehead.

It was Ok in the first 4 -6 months. Now it just all formula based filler. Thank goodness for the fast forward button past the commercials and much of the trite farce.
Some of the guests are interesting, but they get too little time on camera. Out of the 30 minute show it can be boiled down to 3 to 6 minutes of viewable material.

Steve is a Pop Tart of tv journalism. Not much substance, and only very minor short term satisfaction.

To all things there is an opportunity. Perhaps producers will come up with a show that is a farce, satire and parody of Steve's faux character. It would be a parody of a parody. It's premice would be symbolized by enbedded Russian Dolls each looking similar to a clueless bear and doing news report spots.

It could be called "Daily BS in the Office with My Name is Cober(t)." There could be lots of out takes, gaffs, miscues, and plain old stupid behind the scenes and on camera mistakes. Perfect for the comedy channel.

He is THE inspiration for this user name, I feel EVERYONE would benefit from their dose of Stephen EVERY night.
Unfortunately, he doesn't do a show every night. But, if you record the nights he IS showing us how to save the world, you'll have it to watch when he's NOT on or just for anytime.

Movin' on...

As BRAVE as they come, Stephen Colbert went on telling the preznutz almost forever how incompetent he is TO HIS FACE! On and on and on, expecting to be tazed and dragged away any minute, Stephen was my 'hero' JUST for not showing a hint of folding under pressure, the rest of the sphincter replacement procedure was PURE birthday and christmas, all in one!

The Colbert Report and Huffinton Post started not that far apart and I wanted a moniker with a similar mindset of being in the way of close-minded absolutists, like Colbert delivers with his meta-character and sharp doses of satire.

I usually DON't do any satire.

A "two-score" tip-o-the-hats, Mr. Stephen, you've earned it.
