In a sobering speech to a Middle East think tank, Vice President Cheney used tough language to describe the Iranian regime, terming it "a growing obstacle to peace" in the region.

The vice president termed Iran's reported efforts to arm and direct Iraqi insurgent attacks as "subversive" and "perhaps the greatest strategic threat" to Iraq's Shiite majority as it seeks to establish its independence from Iran's influence. He also again blasted Iran's nuclear program, and warned that the country's direction puts it on a collision course with the U.S. and the international community.

1) Persuaded Bush to invade Iraq, after having told his father it was a bad idea.

2) Told the world Iraq had WMD, even after it had been proven there were none there and even after Bush had admitted the same.

3) Insulted our allies in Europe by calling them "the old Europe," even as Bush was trying to enlist their support in the so-called "war on terrorism.­"

4) Ordered the outing of a C.I.A. agent for political purposes, and let your chief of staff accept the consequences. Very brave of you, Dick.

5) Accepted five deferments during the Vietnam War era, then became a chickenhawk.

6) Shot your hunting companion while drunk, then instructed the Secret Service to impede an investigation into the incident until the next day, after you'd sobered up.

7) Ordered NORAD to stand down on 9/11, when it might otherwise have prevented the attacks on the Twin Towers and Pentagon.

8) Insulted peace-loving Muslims by suggesting they're all part of "caliphate" extending from Spain to Indonesia.

9) Enriched yourself with Halliburton options while the company profited from no-bid contracts on a future war, one you discussed with them at a top-secret energy conference (before 9/11); you then used 9/11 as a pretext for invading Iraq, even though you'd already recommended doing so in private conferences.
In other words, you lied through your teeth, Dick...and got filthy rich in the process.

10) Opposed gay-rights legislation throughout your career, then took offense when John Kerry pointed out the paradox of your position and your own daughter's lesbian relationship.
