New York Post Page Six:

Jermaine Dupri takes some potshots at Justin Timberlake in his new autobiography, "Young, Rich and Dangerous." Dupri - still furious at the "Sexyback" star for not standing up for his lady Janet Jackson during her Super Bowl "wardrobe malfunction," when Timberlake was onstage with her - writes, "I think Justin Timberlake is a talented performer. But he's very ordinary-looking."

This little motivational poem by Mr. Jermaine is something he's very, very proud of writing all by himself. It's even in his new book--which he did not, unfortunately, have the chops to write all by himself. It turns out that "Young, Rich, and Dangerous", the book title, is as recycled as the rest of him--it was the title of the last album (1996) by his first group, bubble-gum kiddie act Kriss Kross--which bombed.

One that neva sleeps,
One that keeps his ear on the streets,
One that sets trends without tryin'
And all the time, no matter what, they shinin'.

One that looks and listens closer
Than other niggas.
Big, but constantly thinking of ways to get bigger. [Note: shouldn't it be "bigga" to go with "niggas"? Just asking]

One that's looked at to come thru in the clutch,
Highly talked about, but don't give a fuck. [Note: yeah, doesn't rhyme with "clutch" at all, but since he's just stringing familiar hiphop lines together anyway, let it pass.]
Whether he plays ball, works in Corporate America,
Sings or produces,
If this person was to shut down shop
All hell would break loose!

Motivated by younger people,
That wanna be in his shoes,
Knowing how to do nothin' else but win,
But ain't scared to lose,
Cause a loss every once in a while,
Is what makes you turn it on,
And do what you do, but be twice as strong,

The best is a person that's out
To do shit that ain't neva been done,
This is my definition.
Don't know about you,
But I'm one.

Okay, Mr. "Out to do shit that's never been done" achieved fame and fortune by--get this--selling black-recorded music to white people!

You must be his dupe. You have provided more publicity than the story itself.

Here's some of the lyrics that made Dumplin' Dupree into the Shakespeare of Atlanta:

Fuckin' with my dough is like fuckin' with my pride

and fuckin' with my hoes is like fuckin' with my high

That's two things in life that you just don't mess with

Act like a trick & like a trick you get dealt with

Hoes know to fuck with me & they'll be set fo' life
lookin' nice sex right livin' in my paradise
I been makin' millions since I was young
and still clockin', still rockin', hoe hoppin'
showin' all y'all niggas how it's done
You know So So sell copies like Kinko's
so ya better bend before ya go saying too much shit
'cause all I'm about is makin' dough
and makin' mo' keepin' my glow sho nuff
unlike yo' stuff I make the shit that
keep 'em runnin' to the sto'
Swappin' drop tops on the regular
spittin' game on the cellular
If I meet a hoe and the hoe ain't tryin' to fuck
then the hell with her I'm tellin' ya
Shit we do ya can't erase
took a little change of pace me & Mase
for the niggas that hate
we still up in yo' fuckin' face.

I mean, you wouldn't believe the little guy grew up with a piano in the house, taking lessons.

Now that I've learned just about all there really is to know about him, I feel some pity for L'il Jermaine Dupri, (born Jermaine D. Mauldin). It must be hell inside, wishing you were a real street soldier when you were just a middle-class kid from an Atlanta suburb whose father taught you the music business and got you firmly into it. I also see him as a prime example of the famous "Little Man Syndrome," since for all he can do, if he were a woman of his height he would even be a short woman, and he can't see eye to eye with a normal man unless he is wearing stripper platform shoes--and maybe sometimes he does, for all I know. And then there's the chubbiness quality.

Thus his insane hatred for Justin Timberlake, the big, fit, good-looking dude and bonafide star in his own right (notice how just about all of Jermaine Dupri's minor hits have actually been collabos with more famous recording artists who agreed to carry the big-shot producer's ass on a track) who is also known as one of the most easygoing guys in the world of entertainment--a real bonus for Dumplin' Dupri, since he could be pretty sure JT would be too laid back to even retaliate. I mean, Timberlake even got to sleep with Janet Jackson without having to sell himself as a record producer who could maybe help her career back up.

Then there's the question of L'il Jermaine's "style." It has to be great. He tells the world so, after all. I've looked him over. He has exactly two styles. One is that of a cartoon gangsta rapper, in which he manages to look like the, let's just say, "heavyset", well-brought-up wannabe he is, while the other is apparently derived from watching reruns of "The Wild, Wild West," pointing to one of Jim West's 19th century brocade vests or jackets, and saying: "Make me one like that." That and the sunglasses he seems to have swiped from Oprah's accessories drawer.

Jermaine Drupri has a valid point about Justin not defending Janet Jackson's nipple. A real gentleman would have defended her exposed nipple from the hate which ensued from the Masculinists.

It seems to be the brainless formula employed by the uninspired primates - when the career is sagging - put out a little book of insults in the hopes of being the water-cooler topic of the day. Donald Trump just did it with his new "book" and Dupri takes a copy out of the same book. It must be hard to be surrounded by talent and not having any - especially when getting indigestion from all those sour grapes.

Avicenna is correct.

Sounds like the perfect reasoning to keep blacks out of classical music, doesn't it?

Now who is the best rapper EVAH1! A very white dude!

....evah!

omy Are all of the folks posting her over 50?

I would say that Dr. Dre is the best rapper "evah". He actually produced EMimen 1st tracks.

Justin, frankly would not be a sucess w/o all of the hip hop and rnb producers namely Timbaland and Pharrell.

He simply is rich enothg to pay 200.000 for a single track. I would not call him talented ...just lucky

I'd rather be ordinary looking than as dogbuttugly as Dupri.

He's just jealous of Timberlake's huge success. BUT to be honest I wouldn't buy a Timberlake album unless at gun point.

Sounds like someone is jealous. Aww...is he sad because the ordinary white guy's CD has out-sold his year after year? Also sounds like someone needs publicity. Bad.

Dupri says Timberlake is "ordinary looking."

Perhaps Dupri thinks all white guys look alike.

And I'VE seen so many men down at the county jail who look just like Jermaine Dupri. What does he do, anyway?

You people are so vile, these comments are reprehensible. And this is supposed to be a "progressive" blog??

What Jermaine is saying is that Timberlake is not especially talented and is merely carrying on a very old tradition of white entertainers covering the songs of and copying the styles of black music stars then bilking it for financial gain to the "mainstream" because it's an ethnic sound produced by a white face. If you notice, most of Timberlake's musical collaborators are African American so maybe he has a point.
