AP :

Dozens of Turkish military vehicles loaded with soldiers and heavy weapons rumbled toward the Iraq border on Monday after an ambush by rebel Kurds that killed 12 soldiers and left eight missing. Turkey's foreign minister said his country will pursue diplomacy before it sends troops across the rugged frontier.

The guerrilla ambush on Sunday outraged an already frustrated public. Demonstrations erupted across the country and opposition leaders called for an immediate strike against rebel bases in Iraq, despite appeals for restraint from Iraq, the U.S. and European leaders.

Now that Sadam is dead, somebody has to put the millitant Kurds [Terrorists] in their place. If they want to create their own country they should think about settling on Mars or where-ever, just leave Iraq and Turkey alone.

There is nothing like Democrat leadership to contribute to this present situation.

We did try to get Turkey to come with us when we invaded Iraq.

Maybe they're just fashionably late?

We didn't try to include Iran when we invaded Iraq.

Maybe they're just party crashers?

The story I once heard is that Karl Rove looked at Bush and said, "I can make this guy President." Not, "This guy should be President." or "This guy would make a great president' but "I'm so good I can take this chump, this intellectual midget, this failure, this loser, this moron, this worthless blob of protoplasm, and make him President."

Now we have to reap what Rove has sown. We now have a president who, in his monumental stupidity, did not foresee the consequences of depending on two bitter enemies--the Turks and the Kurds--as two of our key allies in his war against the children of Iraq. Which side will Bush take?

If we had a smart president maybe this would have never happened, at least not with our brave men and women caught in the crossfire.

I hope all you College Republicks are dropping out of business school and making a bee-line for the Army recruiting center--we're going to need you as cannon fodder to protect the real patriots.

Russia has always had their eyes set on the Straights. Who would've guessed that it would fall right into their hands.

Idiot's guide to capturing the Bosphorous

a) destablize Turkey

b) force Turkey into guerrilla warfare against 20 percent of its own population (Kurds)

c) get US to confront Turkey and Iran in Iraq

d) tell Greeks to send battleships to Cyprus

e) send Russian ships to Istanbul to rout Turkish Navy

f) support Greek armed offensive against Istanbul

g) get China to invade Taiwan while the US is bogged down in Iraq against Turkey and Iran

h) enjoy spoils while Europe twiddles its thumbs.

In the audiotape broadcast on Al-Jazeera television, bin Laden said insurgents should admit "mistakes" and that he even advises himself not to be extreme in his leadership.

The tape appeared to be in response to moves by some Sunni Arab tribes in Iraq that have joined U.S. troops in fighting al-Qaida members, as well as other Sunni insurgent groups that—while still attacking Americans—have formed coalitions opposed to al-Qaida.

"Some of you have been lax in one duty, which is to unite your ranks," bin Laden said in the audiotape. "Beware of division ... Muslims are waiting for you to gather under a single banner to champion righteousness. Be keen to oblige with this duty."

"I advise myself, Muslims in general and brothers in al-Qaida everywhere to avoid extremism among men and groups," he said, saying leaders should not build themselves up as the sole authority, and that instead mujahedeen should follow "what God and his prophet have said."

Bin Laden used the Arabic word "ta'assub," which in traditional Islamic thought means extremism in allegiance or adherence to a group, to a degree that excludes others—apparently advising flexibility to overcome divisions.

"Everybody can make a mistake, but the best of them are those who admit their mistakes," he said. "Mistakes have been made during holy wars but mujahedeen have to correct their mistakes."

Looks like Al Queada is falling apart.

LMAO..who is al kaeda..the insurgents in Iraq?Bin Laden is telling them to stop fighting?Well thats all good but too bad Bush already said Bin Laden is not important.Bush said he is not a priority.OOOH Weell!

Your pretty bright. It means that Bin Laden is trying to get his factions in Iraq to do something. But the fact is that the US has been successful in dismantling his network in Iraq.

The Bushes have to be the sleaziest family this side of Sicily. First Bush daddy stabbed the Kurds in the back in Gulf War 1 about 16 years ago. You remember when he promised them full support if they stood against Saddam. Well they paid dearly for that lie and thousands died and NO American help came.
Now, you really think these Kurds are stupid? You think they believe the idiot in chief will protect them against the Turks? They are ready to fight at any cost and you people who think that they will be an easy win by a large Turkish Army, think again!

To read half of this string is to understand how you people have come to be the most despised country on the planet. Your flippant use of humor in the midst of an escalation which will kill more innocents is obscene.

Ignorance is the primary identifying feature of the modern day American. The escalation involving Turkey has many Europeans upset and worried. But that is not a worry to you baby killers. Your slide into poverty will continue as you allow your President to have his way with you. Your ignorance and unwillingness to confront G Bush will be your undoing. You deserve the pain that surely lies ahead.

"Ignorance is the primary identifying feature of the modern day American." As if you know anything about America, putz.

Europeans would be speaking German and working as slaves for the Third Reich if it were not for USA.

Why are you even here? Don't you know anything about this site? All you are doing is pissing off the anti-war crowd with your anti-American rhetoric. Why don't you go post on an Al Qaida web site?

The Kurds have good equipment too.

Current Equipment of the Peshmerga

Unlike the other militias, the Peshmerga were not prohibited by the transitional government, the Kurdish army has been formed out of the Peshmerga. During the American-led invasion the Peshmerga captured the rest of the arms of the Iraqi forces, consisting of more than 2,000 armored vehicles (some hundred of them PT-76s and a smaller number of T-55s) and an unknown number of artillery pieces.

The PKK is the most well-trained and disciplined guerrilla fighting force in the middle east. US and Turkish soldiers ought to stay as far away from PKK as possible.
