Bush To Unveil "Unprecedented" Unilateral Sanctions Against Iran

First Posted: 03/28/08 03:45 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 01:15 PM ET

MSNBC:

The Bush administration plans to roll out an unprecedented package of unilateral sanctions against Iran today, including the long-awaited designations of its Revolutionary Guard Corps as a proliferator of weapons of mass destruction and of the elite Quds Force for supporting terrorism, according to senior administration officials.

The package, scheduled to be announced jointly by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr., marks the first time that the United States has tried to isolate or punish another country's military. It is the broadest set of punitive measures imposed on Tehran since the 1979 takeover of the U.S. Embassy, the officials said.

(repost alert)

One of these days, those wacky Iranians are gonna get really fed up with Junior's adolescent, bellicose sabre-rattling and impose their own sanctions on the U.S.

$90-a-barrel oil will look like the good old days, China will gladly fill the market void and Junior's war crimes trial will have to be held by the light of straw torches (or burning drums of U.S. currency).

Watch the privileged, brain-damaged little prick fold and run for cover if the Mullahs pull the plug.

Does he even realize that he's threatening to hamper Iran's presumed reach for nuclear weapons through the tactical use of.................. nuclear weapons?

Naive wittle Liberals have no clue what is coming to the US. It will come, so at least i would like to pick the location :San Francisco so when it starts SF can put out the call for the military to save them and the troops can come rolling and and stop at the city limits stand at attention and all of them flip SF the bird. Then get in their vehicles and drive away....Hey, you ran us out of your town years ago, we are just honoring your request.

Naivety. adolescent world view and ignorance runs rampant in the LALALAND of Liberalism.

It will come, you are correct about that. What you fail to talk about is the reason it will come. Bush, and those like him in the past and present are making sure it will come no matter what. They dont like to be wrong, so they are doing everything in their power to make sure it does happen. And, as long as they are at it, they are making sure they make a few billion on the selling of oil, weapons, and other things that are in demand when wars on going on.
Yes Virginia, the shit will hit the fan, and the President and his posse of war loving retards are doing their damnedest to make sure it does. Big time!

This is outrageous . . . it must be stopped . . .there is no reason for it . . . blackwater is a terrorist organisation and America is a terrorist state . . .what about all the nuclear weapons in Israel in India in Pakistan . . . ah . . . Iran has no nuclear weapons . . . and has been open with the UN about it's nuclear programme. . . they have the right as a sovereign state to do this . . . impeach Congress before it is too late and this inept, war crazy regime attacks Iran for no reason . . . WTF this is total madness . . . I hope the UN steps in and stops these sanctions . . .

we need dialogue . . .the world needs peace through diplomacy not more bloodshed to fed this crazed regime

Death to those who harm American fighting men and women. Death to those who assist them.

Hey wait a minute - didn't we provide arms and explosives to the so-called contra freedom fighters back during the Raygun era? Didn't they use those arms and explosives to terrorize innocent peasants in an attempt to destabilize a democratically-elected, albeit leftist government? Why don't we ask Mr. Negroponte - you know, the bald guy in the shiny suit with blood on his hands. So, my fellow Americans, I ask you who, who had the audacity to put sanctions on us?

This is the start of the attack on Iran. I still think it will be by Halloween, but no later then Thanksgiving. bush has all them sailors just sitting on deck sunbathing just off shore of Iran and he just cant do that forever, really soon he has to shit or get off the pot, and as we seen in Iraq. He doesnt have brains enough to get off the pot.

As the Turks fight terrorists in Kurdistan, Bush turns to Iran. This is not unlike his move at Tora Bora, where he let bin Laden escape.
06:16 PM on 10/25/2007
We have no proof against Iran supplying weapons or giving support to insurgents in Iraq as this admin has been claiming for months. Even if we did declaring a government operated military a terrorist organization is an unprecidented move.

We've been doing this for years, these sanctions have very little impact on rogue governments, we end up hurting average people. The ultimate outcome is a north Korea extreme poverty at the bottom.

Are Sanctions an effective measure that ultimately leads to change in leadership & behavior or hurt average people?

Fortunately for them, the Dumbocrats are too timid to do anything.

Yesterday it was Castro, and an AEI spokesman talked about "getting on the right side of history"...

Do the neocons think that all this nonsense will eventually place Bush on the right side of history, or the beginning of the end??

He could begin by stopping the export of American cigarettes to Iran. That would piss them off royally. Boy, do those folks love to smoke. When I was in grad school in the 80s, the place was full of Iranians trying to avoid conscription in the War with Iraq. Nice guys, all of them, but they sure could stink up the place.

Hey! Listen! Do you hear the drums, they are beating for war.
Oh, wait. They are the muffled drums of the funeral processions of the kids who will die for bushes folly.

What sanctions? We don't do any real business with Iran so what's he going to cut off?? This is simply a do over on Iraq. I for one would love to see Bush and Cheney strapped to a missel and shot over Iran. Maybe while there flying by they can stop over in Packistan and say hi to Osama!
