McDonald's newest pitchman: Jerry Seinfeld. Jerry is out promoting "Bee Movie," an animated featured he wrote and in which he stars.

This morning during the "Today" show, the following ad aired:

Mmm, sausage McMuffin. That sandwich has 450 calories, 27 grams of fat, and 95% of your daily cholesterol, to name just some of its nutritional value. Notable as Jerry's wife Jessica is everywhere right now thanks to her new cookbook "Deceptively Delicious," which is full of recipes of everyday food secretly cooked with vegetables. When Jessica appeared on October 9's "Oprah," audience members were told of his affinity for the book's banana bread and his preference for beet-stuffed chocolate cake. He even did a bit on his love of the spinach-packed brownie.

From ABC, 10/9

Did he need the corporate cash infusion? Jerry made an estimated $60 million last year alone.

Meanwhile, on last night's Letterman, Jerry made fun of claims that Jessica stole the idea for her veggie-packed recipes from Missy Chase Lapine, who published a similar book in April.

Seinfeld is a total ass. He was a jerk on Letterman and I understand he was always a jerk.
He rode the coattails of talented people on his show and kept the lions share of the money.
He is not funny and his wife obviously stole the cookbook idea.
He also seems to be a closet scientologist, and that cult is notorious for its insanity, inhumanity and arrogance.
I hope people realize that he deserves no more of their money.

When I saw the interview on Letterman, I was speechless. It was like watching Jerry Seinfeld peel a mask off and having Jeffrey Dahmer pop out. Calling that woman a "Wacko" numerous times was astounding. It was definitely a Michael Richards moment. Considering the alleged "Wacko's" book came out 6 months before his wife's, who's more likely to be the liar? A woman that has been a nutritionist and a chef for years or a woman with a proven track record for lying? You have to be an amazing liar to pull of the coup of ditching your husband within a month of marriage. I understand that he was trying to defend his wife's honor, but she lost that honor years ago when she decided to better-deal her first husband and start an affair within a month of her marriage.

A friend of mine works at a business frequented by stars. To them, an "A lister" is determined by how they treat the staff. Seinfeld is NOT an A-lister. By all counts, he's a dick and pretty much very George-like. Ironically, Jason Alexander is reputed to be one of the nicest guys around.

Who were the people George and Kramer were based on? I wonder if they're that way also in real life.

I was so disappointed when I found out Michael Richards is a racist jerk but maybe we often confuse actors with their roles. I don't think I watch the show and laugh at him again.

George was originally based on Larry David.

How much is enough for these folks. Jerry and his wife must be worth a quarter billion, and this guys keeps shamelessly shilling for any corp. that will pad his fortune.
We live in a world where the vast majority of resources go to the superfluous and peripheral, while 50 million can't get health care and another 50-75 million are on the brink of bankruptcy if they have a serious illness.
We are in the last throws of "high, late, capitalism", and this Seinfeld character exemplified this age of extreme mediocrity.

Darn it - I said I wasn't going to talk about them anymore and I just did.

Now I'm a hypocrite also so I really can't judge them.

I think at some point when people are that rich they almost seem to lose perspective and become completely out of touch with the reality of many people who live with the fear that they can't pay their bills next month or if they are comfortable financially they know if they lost their job they wouldn't be able to pay their bills.

Sending a talk show host who is worth billions $20,000 worth of designer shoes to thank her for promoting your book is just in bad taste.Taking money from a fast food company while your wife claims everyone should make sure their children eat healthy is just hypocritical.

But in their defense, they certainly aren't the only celebrities who do this and we don't know them so perhaps we shouldn't judge them. But based on what I do know about them, they're not people who I respect or would want to spend any amount of time with.

grimm asks, "What's with all the hate for a comedian? Did the guy kill somebody?...."

Yes. He promoted McDonald's, which is in the business of marketing products that kill people.

Fast food does not kill people!

Idiots that eat it everyday kill themselves.

Personal responsibility....ever hear of it?

You are right but their advertising is targeted to children who often don't have the ability to make good decisions on their own.

We're only pointing out that it's hypocritical to defend your wife for writing a book promotion healthy food for children and at the same time take money for promoting fast food although I'm probably wasting time trying to explain anything to you.

You don't know them yet you feel as though you have to defend them regardless of the proof that they're probably aren't decent people which is very strange. But if it means that much to you then I hope you're at least on their payroll.Otherwise, you're being fooled by people who probably wouldn't give you the time of day if they met you.

Let's get real, Jessica Seinfeld married Jerry because of his money and fame. And if she were not Mrs. Jerry Seinfeld she would not have been on Oprah to promote her crappy book. And does anyone really believe she actually cooks for her kids?

Most of the postings here remind me of precisely why I think the demise of the human species might not be such a regrettable thing. Look at the cruelty, the hatred, the anger, and the ignorance here. Your words condemn you as a species.

What's with all the hate for a comedian? Did the guy kill somebody? Is he a racist? A warmonger?

He's rich from a very successful television show that he had a large part in creating. He made a cartoon. His wife wrote or co-wrote a cookbook.

Promoting a movie costs a fortune, even for him. So McDonalds is on board to push the flick. Big McDeal.

He's on all the shows pushing the movie. So what? He's a household name and any talk show is happy to have him on.

He doesn't need the dough and neither does his wife. It's something to do. I'd love to be wealthy enough to indulge in those sorts of pet projects.

The guy makes me laugh. With all the crap going on in the USA right now I'm grateful for it.

If another writer attempted to plagiarize lines from "Seinfeld," you can be sure there'd be 100 lawyers lined up to sue.

But when the gold-digging wife does it, it's okay? Shameful. Even worse: Not Funny.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:14 AM on 10/31/2007

Gold digging wife? You obviously don't know a thing about the woman. Maybe you should spend a few minutes looking into who she and her family are sans Seinfeld and then explain how she is a gold digger.

hate much?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:15 PM on 10/31/2007

Um...duh...she's a gold digger because she left her husband of one week to get married to an even richer guy.

I love how Jerry refers to her as "brilliant" and a "genius." She's just a dumb wife like every other gold digging whore.

See this moron makes my point.

The women had money, but you someone are in the know and know for a fact that love had nothing to do with it. Somehow you the keyboard crusader sitting in your grandmas basement know that she is a gold-digging whore.

My guess is that she is about 100x smarter than you. So where exactly does that leave your IQ?

I think it's time to up the meds.

Oh-oh.
Seinfeld bashers.
World's coming to an end for sure.

The McDonald's thing is a tie-in with the movie.
That's how the whole showbiz/movie thing operates.

That's why showbiz types make so much money.
When it comes to creative talent, they're much sharper than us.

He didn't create the show by himself.
He had very funny and creative writers, producers, directors, actors, that made Seinfeld a really big success.

Who doesn't love Seinfeld?

Let's assume a ghostwriter helped Jessica Seinfeld create her cookbook. Perhaps the ghostwriter saw Missy Lampine's cookbook which was published six months ago before creating and writing Jessica's cookbook.
If there IS plaguerism....blame the ghostwriter! All celebrities and psuedo-celebrities use ghostwriters, whether they're writing autobiographies or cookbooks.
And certainly Jessica Seinfeld doesn't want to admit she had the help of a ghostwriter!

I thought his interview was really offensive. I would suggest that he stop talking about his wife and her book immediately because he is only making it worse.

He used that show as an opportunity to bash some woman and her reputation by making jokes about her book and implying she is a serial killer which obviously was meant to be funny but failed miserably. He is materialistic person who cares more about his gaudy, ostentatious home in the Hamptons and his expensive car collection who is angry because his brilliant plan to get publicity for his movie by having his wife write a book isn't working. Most people understand why that woman who wrote the other book is upset but he has to insult her by claiming people have been "mashing vegetables for hundreds of years" yet his wife conveniently, out of all the millions of recipies for "mashing vegetables" just happened by coincidence to use almost the exact same recipe as an author who submited her book to the same publisher. What a strange coincidence.

The problem with him is that he simply isn't funny without the help of a supporting cast and good writers who provide him with material. Also if anyone looks closely at that interview, it seems Letterman was also uncomfortable when he made the serial killer joke and tried to change the subject.

BEST (and poss. most satisfying) RESPONSES:

1.) Don't buy the cookbook!
2.) Don't attend/view the movie!
3.) Write McDonald's(?) Corporation with your complaints(?) and suggest that you won't purchase "FOODS"(?) from its stores(?)!

It's clear that "Seinfeld" was mostly Larry David's imaginative triumph, although Jerry was an excellent comic actor for the show's
energy.

But I wish he would stop talking about "the wife" too. He only diminishes himself. Doesn't she have anything else to do with her time? Doesn't he?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:28 PM on 10/30/2007

Larry David deserves a ton of credit for Seinfeld. When he left the show, you could notice the decline in the material, as well as in the acting.

Jerry was very good on the show, but still, it wasn't all him.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:02 PM on 10/30/2007

No of course it wasn't all Seinfeld. However if you watch Seinfeld and Curb and then compare them to Jerry's pre-Seinfeld stand up routines I think you will see that Curb is closer to Seinfelds work then Seinfeld was to Larry Davids own work.

Just my observation. They are both incredible.

I agree with you about who was responsible for making that show funny.

He is talking about his wife because he is a celebrity with a movie to promote and they're concerned about the negative publicity for the book.

But I don't really blame her for what happened. I think her husband needed to get some publicity for his movie and it almost seems as though someone suggested to them that having his wife write a book would be a good idea. The problem is it backfired.
