Ups Urinals Go Dry

Bloomberg:

Urinals without water. Fountains without water. A waterfall without water.

Dry is the goal as United Parcel Service Inc., Coca-Cola Co. and other companies in the Atlanta area rally to cut water use in response to the region's most extreme drought since at least the 1920s. Metropolitan Atlanta, which has added more new residents than any other U.S. city since 2000, may face limits on growth if the shortage persists, business officials said.

May all the republicans there die of thirst.

I don,t give a damn about Georgia since they elected that draft dodger Saxby Chamblis and stopped caring about Max Cleland. He has endured a lot over the past 40 years, time for those rednecks see a little hardship in their life.

To RAMIREZ - and you don't see it? So blatantly in your face and you don't seem to acknowledge it. It is a sad time when we have been presented with the truth and we can see
where the country is heading and we refuse to
accept it. A president alone could make a huge difference but this is not the case. Seems like the crooks and thieves are running rampant
in the US and it is spilling over to other countries. Seems like a world war is inevitable to get back to basics. And that is sad for the human kind they know of no other way. In fact, we have never progressed - we are still killing each other.

What kind of chaos is going to happen when the water system finally does shut down? People can go without bathing a few days but this will be a lot longer... A good time to buy futures on water, soft-drinks, and beer. With no tap-water to drink, those may be hot (ha-ha!) items...

Waterless urinals are in fact a proven technology and they do not stink if functioning correctly. They use a layer of light mineral oil floating above the urine to seal out odors and germs. The college where I do some volunteer work has almost entirely switched over to them.

I will say though that when they do fail they stink something fierce since the urine underneath is undiluted.

A little more of this and some might begin to realize why the most disgusting theft in the Middle East is Israel's theft of Palestinian water, leaving them without enough for healthy drinking while filling the swimming pools of Jewish settlers on Palestinian territory and pumping more to Israel for use there.
And Knowbetter is correct; in the future there will be wars over water whose viciousness will make our oil wars and even the coming peak oil wars seem like picnics. Once I thought we could organize ourselves for better management of things, but then the Neocons taught me another lesson. Evil refuses to miss an opportunity.

Water will become "the new oil" in coming decades.

I lived through the great Bay Area drought. We had mottos like don’t flush for number one, if it’s yellow let it mellow, and put a brick in your toilet. This was, what, a forty years ago? We soldiered on because there was still a manageable population. If that were to happen now it would be close to hopeless. We are a country with reduced resources thanks to Bush and Cheney. We are a country that has problems that never should have happened like New Orleans. If I lived in Atlanta (or for that matter any of the Western desert states), I’d be scared. In years past the Federal Government could step in to help. Now, it’s every region for itself. I hope all you folks who have supported George Bush go thirsty. You bought it, paid for it and own it.

Well, what they are doing is better than what is coming out of the White House. Bush still denies that global warming is real. If something isn't real, then there's no point to looking into ways to fix or cope with it, right?

WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF WATER AROUND THE WORLD.

Overpopulation and Global Warming are the reason. The earth can't support 9 Billion people. It can't even support 6 Billion.

QUIT HAVING BABIES! Your children will grow up in hell on earth.

Water table is eventually going to become an
issue across the 50 states. Some states are
fortunate by having lots of rivers etc., but
the short version is that a lot of places
have been just plain overdeveloped, there isn't
enough water in the ground to support the
people walking around on it. Be sure to thank
those nice real estate people and the folks
at the county zoning board, too...remember,
property taxes can make ya rich for life! Woohoo!

"...may face limits on growth if the shortage persists, business officials said."

I'd say it's a little late for that. And my relatives live a short hour's commute from Atlanta, happily joining the hoards clogging I-75 each day. Weren't told bout that happening when they moved to the area.
