AP:

General Mills on Thursday recalled about 5 million frozen pizzas sold nationwide under the Totino's and Jeno's labels because of possible E. coli contamination.

The problem may have come from pepperoni on pizzas produced at a General Mills plant in Ohio, the suburban Minneapolis-based company said. It said the pepperoni itself came from a separate supplier, not produced at the plant itself, but it declined to release the name of the pepperoni distributor.

anyone notice that since ush and the neocons hate govt. so much, how the lack of regulation and checks and balances seems to have hit our foods and toys etc, etc....

there have been way too many recalls and no one seems to think anything of it.

Send the pizzas to Afghanistan and Iraq. Put a red cross label on them and address a card to the saudi al queada's in Iraq.

Done deal.

I simply don't know where to begin. I once worked for a major seafood company and they constantly beat into our heads that all we sell is wholesomeness and our name is on the package. With the chinese selling us tainted dog food, tainted lukemia drugs, lead tainted toys etc; with Conagra having "troubles" with their "TV" dinners and Topps pumping out ecoli flavored ground meat you would think that General Mills would preemptively assure that the grim reaper would not visit ANY of their plants - directly or through suppliers. But No-o-o-o their lust for ever greater profits appears to have taken the health of their customers off the radar. Let's take it a step further - so you bloggers are going to give up the cheap ass pizza? What about G.M. cereals? How do we REALLY know that the same carelessness in their pizza production does not extend to their cereal lines? Wasn't it tainted chinese gluten which was the poisonous ingredient in the deadly dog food? The only way to assure you won't be poisoned is to stay the F**K away from these products.

Americans eat so much processed crap -- which helps explain why they are so fat. So a little more processed swill from General Mills with a high e coli count, only seems fair.

Back in my days in the army if we wanted to annoy the cooks we would ask, "What's that $hit?" They would always reply, "That's not $hit, it's food."

I guess they can't say that in the US anymore. Sad...

Every once in a while, I develop a craving for cheap pizza ... and I indulge myelf with Jeno's and Totino's pizzas at about a buck apiece until the craving goes away. In fact, I fed this craving with Jeno's pizza just before I first read the E. coli warnings on the web. There is one pizza left in the freezer. One. Do I dare tempt fate after already consuming those pizzas purchased at the same time, with absolutely no ill effects?
Be Brave!, NotaBeliever! Be safe. If you never hear from me again, I either consumed said pizza and paid for my unmitigated gall with my life ... or I just stepped out for a moment. Maybe got hit by a car ... or the black helicopters finally came after me for my comments here at HuffPo.

$100 says that Wal-mart is one of the suppliers of this tainted food.
