"Today" profiled Argentine President-elect Cristina Fernandez this week, and to prove they take women in power seriously, they played songs such as "Hey Sexy Lady" and "Glamorous" in the background. In case you lost interest by the middle of the story, they even threw in a close-up of a random woman's butt. What's scary about this clip is that someone at "Today" actually gave this piece the green light.

Abstaining from sex- not creepy. Dancing with your father when it's not your wedding- getting creepier. Dancing with your father to celebrate your pledge of abstinence- very creepy. "Tyra" explored the strange world of father/daughter purity balls Monday. When you see what goes on there, you realize they're just like every other celebration. They dine, they dance, they pledge their purity to a cross with a white rose.

From UPN 10/29.

Ex-JonBenet Ramsey murder suspect John Mark Karr and his 23-year-old fiancee, who lives with him and his parents, talked to "Inside Edition" this week. Creepy enough already, but it gets worse. His fiancee has a 3-year-old daughter. Yikes!

From UPN 11/1/07.

Not all entertainment this week was spooky in a bad way. Last week's "30 Rock" featured a short clip of what could possibly be the greatest Halloween song ever, Tracy Jordan's "Werewolf Bar Mitzvah". The full length video hasn't been released yet, so you'll have to settle with the full audio for now. By the way, if you're not watching "30 Rock" you're missing out on one of the best shows on television.

I read that the whole Karr episode was staged to distract from a HUGE pedophile scandal in the State Dept.

Purity balls are something that the Promise Keepers would do. They are all about male control of the family in all aspects. Whatever happened to them, anyway?

If the boys aren't taking responsibility too, then it's not about purity, it's about control of women and their choices in life.

It always has been. Remember that the US has always been about protecting its precious white girls from the evils of the world.

I think the words "father" and "balls" used together in one sentence are too creepy to contemplate.
As for Karr's impending stepfatherhood, I hope to hell someone from family protective services is standing by with an order of custody revocation and a stun gun.
He's nuts, but his fiancee is evil AND nuts. I hope the kid's biological father puts an end to this insanity before it's too late.

What they're really telling the girls is that their virginity does not belong to them. First it belongs to the father and then it belongs to the husband. Therefore, the girl is property. An object, not a person. That is why people say it's scary, because that IS scary. And the girls don't understand what is being done to them, how they're being conditioned, so they spout the "party line" and thus contribute to their own objectification.

How stupid is this woman? Who would marry a known pedophile? Can't children's services act to protect a three-year-old girl who's living with a pedophile -- before he becomes her stepfather?

That whole promising purity to your FATHER is as creepy as it gets. That's somewhere in the south...isn't it? Where the father or a close relative wants first dibs?

CREEEEEPPPYYYY!

Jeez ... doesn't John Mark Karr look a lot like an evil ventriloquist's dummy? Kind of like in that old movie 'Magic' with Anthony Hopkins ...

I wonder what it really is that attracts some women to people like this? Is she that desperate to get on TV? Does she get a thrill from flirting with danger?

I mean, Karr didn't kill JonBenet Ramsey, of course. But he's got a child porn arrest under his belt, and whatever reason he had for telling the lies about the Ramsey case, they sure can't be good ones. Yet to some women out there, that sounds like marriage material? Weird.

Studies show abstinence pledges don't work. There is a higher incidence of teen sex and pregnancy among those who have pledged 'abstinence' than the general teen population.

The difference is that 'pledged' teens never really learn where babies come from or how to have sex safely and responsibly. Instead they unprotected anal and oral sex under the mistaken notion that those aren't 'real' sex so they set themselves up for a lifetime of ignorance and STDs.

"Dancing with your father when it's not your wedding- getting creepier."

How is dancing with one's parent creepy? It's dancing, not dirty dancing!

What a load!

this idiot with JM Karr deserves whatever she gets.

Though he never had anything to do with JonBenet - he is a beard for the pedophilia racket US agencies have going in the Far East - he's still a pervert.

Too bad for her 3 yr old.

It's brilliant and very simple. The girls have set this up as a father-swapping meet market. It's now a vow of chastity but a vow of silence and celebration of their orgy scheme. Don't you wish that you had a cute teen daughter?

The more one listens and thinks about these father's statements the more perverse they seem. Other than explaining the birds and the bees and by example instilling some sense of wisdom (that the children hopefully develop for themselves), it seems more and more sick that they should insinuate themselves into that aspect of their daughter's lives. At the least, this should be dealt with by the mothers. It shows a distinct lack of boundaries and respect while pretending to do just the opposite.
