Cargill Inc. said Saturday it is recalling more than 1 million pounds of ground beef that may be contaminated with E. coli bacteria, the second time in less than a month it has voluntarily recalled beef that may have been tainted.

No illnesses have been reported, said John Keating, president of Cargill Regional Beef.

"Cargill learned the meat may be contaminated after the Agriculture Department found a problem with a sample of the beef produced on Oct. 8, the company said. The bacteria is E. coli O157:H7."

Go USDA.

And dont you just hate when they have these recalls but never seem to list all the stores it is found it. They always say crap like, "and distributed it to retailers across the country. They include Giant, Shop Rite, Stop & Shop, Wegmans and Weis."

Sure, they include, but what about the whole damn list so everyone could avoid it??

Does anyone here really know who inspects our foods for the FDA to make sure its safe? I dont know for sure, but everything Ive read, and everything Ive heard or seen in the media says that the corporations who produce the products, have their people in place who test the food safety on behalf of the FDA. If the corporate tester finds a problem , he then [ or in theory] is suppose to call the FDA in. This is a very good example why we should never fall for the old con job of " who is better to regulate corporations than the corporations" We have years of proof why the corporations shouldnt be self policing. IT just doesnt work.

And to think you don't need Red Meat to be healthy.

Who'd a thunk it!

I know vegetarians who look like 11th degree black belts. Solid steel.

And just how many illegal Mexicans are working for Cargill? A lot of them came here with TB and other types of disease. I believe that's where the spinach and hamburger problems came from. Next, it will be chicken. I've been past chicken processing plants. All I saw were Mexicans. Yeah, all of them are here legally. I think if we get rid of the illegals, we'll probably get rid of a lot of disease. That won't happen, though. The large corporations will give enough money to the politicians to make sure it won't happen. We will get sick. The large corporations will get rich.

It is hard to imagine anything filthier than hamburger. They use cows with open running cancer tumors on them, cows so weak they can't stand up.

Then they are killed and all the most revolting scraps, along with some unavoidable excrement, gets ground up and put in a shiny clean package.

If you are looking to improve your health and diet, the simplest first step is avoiding hamburger in any form. Don't even eat it to be nice. Just say NO.

Another case where food irradiation processing would have prevented a big problem. Ground meat should be irradiated as a normal step in it's processing.

Watch the movie "Fast Food Nation." Heavy handed but shows how the tainted meat business makes you sick.

The sad thing for us as consumers is that tracing the culprits is impossible. So sweet for Cargill and other huge corporations. No responsibility is such a high.

Let men, women, and children be poisned by Cargill and other corporate beef. No way to trace it back, really. Sweet for the corporations!!!
