Dog Washing Machine Looks Cruel and Unusual

The latest pet innovation to come out of France looks just plain cruel. Lazy dog owners put their pets into this huge washing machine-like contraption, which then douses the poor little pooches with soap and water for four minutes straight! This seemingly terrifying experience is followed by a drying session that can last up to twenty minutes. How lazy can you get? Isn't caring for a dog supposed to be a loving and personal experience? Monthly washings are hard enough for dogs, why torture them with this industrial nightmare? My dogs are scared of the vacuum cleaner. I can't imagine being heartless enough to stick them in this thing.

Yeah, I'll take one in XL. Washing my 180 pound mastiff is an exercise in pain, involving me affixing his leash to the deck support beams and chasing him around with shampoo and the hose. No fun for anyone, I can assure you, and that's WITH constant bathing since puppyhood. He just hates it with a burning passion.

I'll take three!

The experience is up to the owner. If you are there to comfort, entertain, supervise and distract you can make it ENJOYABLE.

No? My dog hates to be brushed, but gets happy and excited every-time he sees the brush come out. Why? Because afterwards there is lots of praise and treats. And brushing itself is a form of attention.

In nature, dogs fight for their lives and kill for meat and survival. I think they can handle a shower.

I would think that would be terrifying for the dog for the 1st time or 2, but after he got used to it, it doesn't seem that bad as long as there's no chance that the water or air temp could go too high. It was great to see that fellow get in with his dog, just to experience it for himself.

What I'd like to know is how the dogs react when they see that box for the SECOND time.

Well, at least the owner got in there with his dog. There's some integrity to that. Neither of them looked like they were suffering, particularly, but frankly, I don't see what's wrong with just giving the dog a freakin' bath. I gave mine one last night: we both survived, and it didn't cost me $15.

I've seen this before there is an ad on cable TV running for a local pet store that has it.
Pets kinda don't like it from their looks while they are in it, but then again pets don't like much getting a bath anyway, at least with this the humans don't get scratched and bitten.

Just think how handy it would be for kids, or fraternity pledges, and with a higher tempeture setting the Bush Admin could use it for prisoner information extraction, like waterboarding but they also come out clean. Then again at $15 per wash, it might be too expensive for your neighborhood kid and fraternity pledge. But, send a few to Iraq and we'd have those proto-terrorists talking in no time.

You should see what happens when you put the cat in there!
