Monday on "The View" Barbara Walters aired her grievances about Paul McCartney's ex Heather Mills, saying she was "so impossible" and "not a very nice woman" and recounting a story of a Mills' interview during which she was "extremely difficult."

Tuesday the UK Sun published a story about and photos of McCartney and New Yorker Nancy Shevell spending a romantic weekend together in the Hamptons, complete with lingerie shopping and a photographed kiss. The story of McCartney's new girlfriend has been splashed across the news ever since.

Then today Huffington Post heard that Walters, public critic of Mills, may be Shevell's aunt. After emailing Karl Nilsson, the ABC publicist for "The View", Walters' personal publicist Cindi Berger gave Huffington Post the following statement:


Barbara was unaware that Nancy was involved with Paul McCartney. We just found out about that when the press alerted us. Barbara and Nancy are second cousins. Barbara is not her aunt.

So they're just cousins. It's unclear when Barbara found out McCartney's new squeeze was her blood relative, but it was probably before she gave this sugar-coated Mills' comment to Extra on Tuesday night.

I don't wish Heather Mills any harm. We didn't [my producers] have the best experience...I think she's at a difficult time. I think Paul McCartney is having a terrible time and I just hope it all resolves itself.

And when it resolves itself, Barbara already has the inside track for Shevell's first interview.

When Paul marries her niece-- maybe they can do a reality wedding on the "View"-- they've got the maid-of-honor and some awesome bridesmaids (I can just see Whoopy all draped out in silk and chiffon!)

Well, out of all the celebrities getting papped left, royt and centa, Paul is the most interesting.
Purely for what seems to be a common feeling that he contributed to some great music that still lives.
His marriage to Linda was very steady, so it seems. So I hope he makes it through what he is going through, well.
Then again, he is a diversion from what is really going on in our lives, our own management.
But hey, why not comment on someone elses life now and then. Keeps the village going ...

Barbara Walters stays above the fray when the a-hole in the news is, like her, rich and powerful. Donald Trump, for instance. But she's there to take gratuitous swipes at a powerless and pathetic a-hole like Heather McCartney. Integritywise, score one for Rosie.

Paul is a poor old romantic fool.
He needs one night in Thailand. Heck, even Anchorage. Don't let on who he is right away, of course, or it will taint the relationship from the start.
He will find a kind woman there for sure.
With his money she would marry him, give him a baby, love him lke a God, and never give him any grief.
What is this guy thinking? He wastes his time with selfish glam hags.
He is looking for himself in them, I'd suppose.
No George or John he...
He is way out of touch with who he really is and what he has to offer.
He should stop being a cheap guy and pay this hateful ex off but at the same time, go live it up with someone who can identify with his broken heart. What is a half billion to him anyway? Is he afraid he'll run out of money?

He is a very boring character and the Beatles are indeed overrated.
