Striking Writers Finding Other Outlets To Express Themselves

Sometimes it seems that every time the striking television and movie writers put down their picket signs, they pick up their pencils.

They are writing items for Slate and New York Magazine, op-ed pieces for The Los Angeles Times, The New York Post and The Daily News, and blogging for The Huffington Post and others. A writer for "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" said in this newspaper's pages yesterday: "Lacking any other site to express myself (for money), I am forced to record my thoughts in my diary: The New York Times Sunday Styles section.
