Donda West Dies Following Plastic Surgery, Had "Multiple Procedures," Was Refused By One Surgeon

Donda West, Kanye West's mom, died late Saturday evening in a Los Angeles hospital. Her publicist stated to news outlets that she died from complications of cosmetic surgery. The coroner confirmed that surgical complications are the likely cause of death, and an autopsy is scheduled for this week. 911 responded to a call saying that Donda was not breathing.

TMZ reported Donda West, Kanye's mom, 'may have died as a result of a "combined procedure."

TMZ reports another doctor recently warned Donda West of complications and refused to do a requested breast reduction and tummy tuck.

TMZ also reports that 911 was called to Donda's home Saturday night. An unresponsive Donda was taken to an ER and pronounced dead an hour later.

Late Monday evening Kayne West released a statement that read in part:

Kanye West, his family and friends would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support and kind words that have come in from across the country since the death of his mother, Dr. Donda West.

The family asks for donations to West's foundation in lieu of flowers. Funeral arrangements are still pending.

She was a very educated woman ( a college professor) who loved and supported her son's career. She seemed like a beautiful person, it's sad that today people think that they have to appear perfect to be in the spotlight, or to support someone in the spotlight. it seems some people get addicted to cosmetic surgery,I hope that this tragedy makes people think twice, as this happens a lot more than is publicized. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Kayne, who really seemed to appreciate and love his mom a lot.

Such a sad thing. Kind thoughts to Kanye and his family. Of course this happens all the time, but nonetheless I sort of like Kanye's take on Shrub.

BUT his mom was trying to do too much at one time if I have read various reports correctly. This was dangerous and it's a shame no one tried to talk her out of it or if they tried they should have really put the hammer down.

She was apparently a pretty smart woman, but vanity knows now intellectual limits.

As someone who is watching my best friend and mother suffer from inoperable stomach cancer - trying to pull rabbits out of hats to defy the sentence that will have her removed from my life sooner than I am ready to let her go - I wish Kanye the strength to pull through this unexpected tradegy. The inevitable deep regret - and disbelief - which no amount of money, fame or words of condolence can alleviate the extreme burden of remorse - just experience it and grow out of it with time - the only antedote that may help put a salve of the pain.
