Warning: Folks who like to tout John McCain's civility and adherence to decorum should approach the following with caution.

We've just obtained some video of a Fox local affiliate reporting on a McCain campaign appearance in South Carolina. In it, one of McCain's supporters emphatically calls Hillary Clinton, McCain's fellow United States Senator, a "bitch." McCain's response? According to the Fox affiliate's reporter, McCain "laughed off" the comment. Take a look:

I want to know who this woman is. She appears to be wealthy, judging by her hair, makeup and skin tone. This occurred in Hilton Head, an enclave for the wealthy. I don't want to hurt her, I just want to send her a sweater with a great big red B on it. Then I will get my fertilizer spreader and spell the word out on her lawn.

Remember when Babs referred to Ferraro as "That rich bitch?" or did she way "word that rhymes with witch?" Then Newt Gingrich's mother confided in Connie Chung that Newt called Hillary a bitch. What is wrong with these old wimmin. Unless a woman is Phyllis Schlafley, they are called obscene names.

Amazing. All these comments and nobody watched the video. He rephrased the question for the woman, talked about his poll numbers versus Senator Clinton and then, to a very unresponsive crowd that wanted to hear him bash her, reiterated his respect for her.

Oh the outrage! McCain should be telling people what they can and cannot say! She said a bad word, after all. We need to deal with these things harshly.

Is this really the best you all can muster? This manufactured outrage is not fooling anyone.

It is amazing how fast he covered for his mother's comments about Mormons the other day, but lets this one go by without much comment other than to say he "respects any democratic nominee." (whoever that might end up being) It is also interesting that the woman and her biases did not seem unlike his own mother's innuendo. This is just how Republicans talk about people they don't like...with unimaginable hostility and crassiness. For the party of the "upper class" they seem to lack the class part.

I'm still waiting to hear what Hillary has done that is so bad that she needed to called a "Bitch".

Is it because she wants to end the war in Iraq?

Is it because she wants to balance the budget?

Is it because she wants all Americans to have Health care?

Is it because she cares about globle warming?

Is it because if it takes a tax increase on people who make more than $250,000 per year to do the above, she is for it?

Is it because she wants better education for all?

What is it that makes her a Bitch ?

First and foremost that woman should never have referred to another woman as a "bitch". Quite obviously she has a problem with a woman in power, a woman who is assertive and is not afraid to take charge in a male dominated arena.
Second, MacCain should never have laughed and then later responed to that question. He should have firmly rejected that question the way it was presented.
Both of these individuals have shown a total disrepect for all women no matter if they are stay at home moms or working women. The same traits that are admirable in a man should transfer to a woman. A woman who won't acquiesce and stands her ground, who is strong and is not scared to state an opinion should be held in the same regard as a man in a similar situation.
Stereotyping labels are the last resort of the ignorant, weak and narrow-minded.

The senator then when into a campaign event. He stood in front of a flag and delivered a speech to 50 people, none of whom was under the age of 70. In the speech, he talked about terror, and affirmed that the surge is indeed working. Then he said that democrats wanted to raise taxes. He God-blessed America and everyone clapped. Then they went home.
(that's all I've got on the McCain campaign today. Tune in tomorrow for the exact same thing)

She could be referring to Giuliani. It is the primary season after all.

Whatever. Where were you guys when Hillary accused everyone of a "vast, right-wing conspiracy"? Where are you when many of your companion posters on Huffington call those of us who serve in the military facists, or nazis, or redneck goons? Don't try acting like you have any class now, it's a little late.
