Turkish helicopter gunships attacked abandoned villages inside Iraq on Tuesday, Iraqi officials said, the first such airstrike since border tensions have escalated in recent months.

It also was the first major Turkish action against Kurdish rebels since Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan met President Bush in Washington earlier this month. The United States and Iraq have pressured Turkey to avoid a large-scale attack on rebel bases in northern Iraq, fearing such an operation would destabilize what has been the calmest region in the country.

once again we find ourselves in the middle of a variety of negative possibilities. we're like tightassed school marms trying to control a class of juvenile delinquents (some of whom are that way because we pushed them too far).

Nancy Pelosi said if she receives 10,000 handwritten letters she will put

impeachment back on the table. Cindy Sheehan says if you send them in care of

her campaign office the letters will be accurately counted.

The Hon. Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House
Office of the Speaker
H-232, US Capitol
Washington, DC 20515
(202) 225-0100
(The correct salutation is Dear Madam Speaker.)

Impeachment is necessary, or we will have war with Iran before the next

election.

GhostsintheMachine seems to think that just because there have been no terrorist attacks in 6 years that Bush's War on Terror is working.

I wonder if he ever watched 'The Usual Suspects'.

Fact is, there are millions of ways to do some real damage in the USA and all the security in the world will not stop them.

Like the bullshit with eavesdroppping ......as if someone is stupid enough to pick up a landline.

With HideIP and numerous other proxies, emailing and SMS's are simple. I can buy a throw away cellphone at Albert Heijn for 25 euros with Sim card.

Of course, a military genious like yourself only thinks in terms of bombing and big armies.

Even low tech can beat hi tech.

You will see some examples soon.

Turkish choppers are firing into Iraq 'cause Junior's turned it into a free-fire zone.

The wingwhackos are still trying to wrap their minds around the unvarnished fact that nineteen zealots (who could just as easily have been from The Kingdom Of Tonga) finessed immigration and pulled off a CRIME -- a crime against humanity, perhaps, but still a CRIME, not an act of war.

Ever watch a drunk try to punch his way out of a wet paper bag?

See "Junior's Excellent Iraq Adventure".

Ex-cellent....a surging success!

Soon my hapless hirelings of hegemony will have all those unpleasant peasants removed from the ground above what rightfully belongs to Burns....Ah the burden of bringing civilization to the great unwashed is an enormous one to bear...but I must...for it is my sacred duty to part them from the resources they cannot fully exploit...

No matter what the facts show the drooling, ignorant wingnuts just fall in line like sheep and follow the dreadful policies until they walk over a cliff.

Good thing these foolish trolls are a very small fraction of Americans and will always be so stupid that they can't think for themselves.

Stupidity has a very wingnut bias, you regressive assholes are a hoot. Keep posting like the drones you are!

"Progress" in Iraq?
The question for many, if not most, has not been whether the US COULD subjugate Iraq, but whether the US SHOULD.
As I have posted before, genocidal or near genocidal actions may allow the US military some measure of control. The Iraqi economy has been destroyed. Cities have been destroyed. Millions of Iraqis are homeless, exiled, dead, or maimed. They have gone over 5 years without proper water, electricity, medical care, or schooling for their children. Thousands have been rounded up, imprisoned, and tortured without cause. Dare we call it genocidal?
No doubt some will claim the foreign occupying force has made "progress" in beating Iraqis into submission.
Some may believe the invasion and conquest is justified under the banner of combating "terrorism". If so, they have been deceived by a jingoist lie, arrogantly if not hypocritically promoted for public consumption.
The real purpose, as Cheney and others have clearly stated in their less public, more academic writings and discourses is quite different. Convinced they know what is best for "America", they have set out to militarily "secure" control of world resources so that their "America" will be protected against what they consider will be the main threats in this century. Unfortunately, their "America" consists of corporate and military institutions that are anti-democratic in their methods, and anti-humanistic in their mad beliefs and values. Their neo-world consists of power, greed, secrecy, collateral damage, and the like, all which they are willing to protect by any means.

GhostintheMachine pretending that the Iraq quagmire has prevented attacks on the US but not explaining how: "Reaaly, how many terrorist attacks on US interests since 9/11?"

There have also been no meteor strikes or major earthquakes on US soil and Iraq had nothing to do with that either.
