Yoko Ono did sell John Lennon's rare home recording of "Real Love" to JC Penney for a commercial.

The spot began airing on Sunday night during ABC's "Brothers & Sisters" before Penney could even make the announcement.

The Beatles have had their songs licensed for commercials in the past, but with the rare exception of perhaps "Revolution" years ago, they never have allowed master recordings out. The songs are always re-recorded.

Just one more thing. To "colognecitizen": the high-falutin' words you used to describe Yoko's work I believe is actually artsy-fartsy. Arty farty...wasn't he a character on the Simpsons??? The rest of you who have made derogatory comments about Yoko or John, what is it with in your own psyche that causes you to lash out in such angry and vulgar ways and prove yourselves to be profoundly ignorant. You seem upset that Lennon's songs were used in this manner but you obviously understand nothing about John Lennon and his beliefs of how people should be toward each other or you would not have spoken such nonsense. Remember: "It is better to keep quiet and let people think you are ignorant than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

Yoko the wanna-be beatle. No musical talent to speak of, no artistic talent to speak of, alienates Johns son, lives off Johns talent, and justifies it by promoting crap.

She isn't a sell out, she's just always been this way, the starving artist with no talent looking for a meal ticket.

She's nothing but wanna-be that landed in shit.

first of all, to the 2 fools, "sureofit" and "colognecitizen": I work in a hospital with the mentally ill, and let me give you some food for thought, we are all mentally damaged in some way. I'm certain if you became a bit introspective you might realize some things about yourself that could qualify as mental health issues that have never been addressed. If you paid attention to Lennon's life you would know that he spent his life attempting to at least address his, which is more than can be said for most people. We are all human and thus all have our problems. As for "colognecitizen": once again, if you knew anything of Lennon and the Beatles history you would know they were bound to break up. Artistically and personally they were looking to go their separate ways. And Lennon really detested the fact that people wanted to blame Yoko for their break up. It would have happened with or without her. And to the 3rd fool who commented that Lennon's work after the Beatles was crap...let's have a look at your record collection. Lennon's post-Beatles work was, and still is, relevant today: "Gimme some truth", "Crippled Inside", "Power to the People", "Instant Karma", to name a few. While I don't care to see music I love in commercials, it is not my business. Like Dylan has said, it's the artist's personal choice. Why should they care what some fools think of their decision? It's always amazes me when people who profess to be "fans" criticize artists and in the same breath prove their lack of knowledge of the artist. Me... I'm just sitting here "watching the Wheels" go round and "Imagining" a world where no one is "Crippled Inside" and there's real "Power to the People" while "Remember"ing "The Ballad of John and Yoko". Peace.

Let's face it. The reason why most Beatles fans hate her, ( including myself ) is the fact that her relationship with John had to do a lot with the break-up of the band. I would have loved to hear more how they would have developed without this bitch interfering.

I don't know if she is relevant as an artist. The stuff I remember she did back then was kind of arty - farty.

People are talking about 'selling out'--in this day and age? Please....stop. Most people don't know the meaning of the term anymore. Artists can't wait to sell out, particularly Rap and Rock & Roll artists. And those with the biggest pile of corporate money and the most corporate gold and diamonds around their neck at the end of the day are the winners. Everyone else are the losers. It's really no secret that Yoko's favorite person on the the planet has always been Yoko. Why should she be any different than everyone else these days?

Like fine wine, fine women improve with age.

Yoko's never had that problem.

Why does she always wear her sunglasses way down her nose like that? Is it to hide her eyebags?

Yoko would sell her own entrails if she thought she could make a buck.

The Beatles are great.
John was mentally damaged.
Yoko is a Japanese blue blood and has always exhibited the holier-than-thou behavior that goes with that culture's pathetic xenophobia.
Yoko is not a critically acclaimed artist.
She calls herself a "conceptual artist," a term that means "talentless."
Instant Karma is great.
Imagine is crap.
All four put out mostly crap after the breakup.
John vs Paul thing is pathetic.

Nothing new- the Stones, Who, Zeppelin- even Dylan sang for women's underwear. Yoko has said in the past that this is a way to keep Lennon's music out there.. look at how Feist benefited from (an iPhone) commercial. I myself am with Neil Young- "won't sing for Pepsi, won't sing for Coke," but it seems to me that those protesters are more the usual Yoko-haters than music purists.

Yoko introduced Lennon to heroin, and Lennon nodded off during the making of Let It Be.

Nobody is perfect, but she is hardly the saint her fans make her out to be. And there is ample evidence that she is greedy.

It is too bad for her that she is her. Supposedly she was a Flux artist, but she certainly grew like so many people to love being famous and being ridiculously wealthy. She was born a wealthy privileged daughter of a wealthy privileged Japanese Banker, but she will die even wealthier and her married wealth all from marrying Lennon.

Can't Buy Me Love was Paul's song: Yoko's fans, who own none of her art work, are fans because Lennon bought their love for her.

Yoko- imagine fifty gallons of green, stinky, repulsive PUKE cascading down your face from above. THAT'S ME, letting you know just I feel about your latest desecration of John Lennon's legacy. When you finally croak, I'm going to walk into the Whisky and buy a round for EVERYBODY..

Yoko totally screwed Julian Lennon years ago of his rightful inheritance to his share of the Lennon estate...so why is it surprising that she continues the same trend?

To be fair, McCartney sold out HIMSELF only a few months ago to iTunes. So.
