Kanye West Breaks Down During Concert

Only a week after his mother's death, Kanye West returned to the concert stage Saturday night in Paris, only to dramatically break down in tears, audience members tell PEOPLE.

Nearing the end of the more than 60-minute performance, with the riff of "Hey Mama" beginning, West attempted to introduce the tribute to a sold-out crowd at Le Zénith in Paris, saying "this song is for my mother...." and could get no further.

sad story. I wish him the best. May his mother rest in peace. This could have happen to us. With lipo suction and other plastic surgery as in all surgeries there is always the danger of a traveling clot.

Maybe he should take a little more time off to grieve. A week is not enough, although perhaps he thought working would help him cope.
I can't deal with the way he whines when he loses at awards shows, but I feel badly that he lost his mom.

I don't blame him. Just from what little I saw of her on t.v. she seemed like a pretty decent woman. I know she was proud of him. I don't like to see anybody caught up in the throes of sorrow. I've been there myself. My heart goes out to him.

My deepest condolences to Mr. West on the sudden death of his mother. His grief, sill so new and raw, can unexpectedly come forth in a torrent of tears and pain. Right now there is nothing that can ease his pain. Maybe working and doing something he loves, something his mother took great pride in, helps him forget for a little while, the passing of his mother.
