Donny Osmond has apologized to Larry King for criticizing the CNN talk-show host after he revealed that Marie Osmond's 16-year-old son had entered rehab.

"I was very upset about it," the 49-year-old singer said in an interview that aired Monday on NBC's "Today" show. "I thought it was very unfair for Larry King to throw that question at Marie the way he did."

Donny Osmond and his sister, who starred on television's "Donny and Marie Show" during the 1970s, appeared stunned when King asked about Michael in an interview last week.

Osmond said he later learned the tabloids were about to break the story.

"I have to back up and apologize publicly to Larry King because I came out and said some things against him," he said.

"... In hindsight, Larry King did Marie a favor," Osmond said. "She was able to make a statement about the situation. ... And so she's grateful to Larry."

So Donnie thanks Larry for the slimeball ambush because it empowered Marie to prepare for the tabloid assault on her strung out kid?

Everybody wins! Except for the kid.

I've met Larry King in person (a handshake and some small talk), and he's pretty darn sleazy, so nothing surprises me.Donny is being extremely gracious for taking the position he's taking. Larry King reminds me of an older, gentler Jerry Springer, who I met in an elevator once at an ad agency. Larry might be older and gentler, but BOTH of them look at your breasts, not your face, when they greet you. They're white trash who did well for themselves, thanks to their gift of gab.

Oh, please.
Even Mormons have kids who over-do drugs and end up in rehab.
People are so damn touchy when a religious goody two-shoes celebrity has an embarrassing personal or family matter exposed.
Guess what? Mormons are no more immune to sex, drugs and rock n' roll than the rest of us. They just lie about it better.
I'm not shocked that one of her kids is a doper- I'd be one too if I had to be around that crowd of mega-breeding religious zealots.

State of the Union: Third rate celebrities are apologizing to Larry King after he reveals their family business on national TV.

We are REALLY screwed.

Larry King has always been very overrated.

I saw this.

I love Larry, but it was inappropriate.

You can ask adults tough questions about their own lives, that is fair game when they voluntarily sit down for an interview, but outing her son's problems on national t.v. was not right.

Larry, I have no illusions you will ever see this, but if you did, you know what the Talmud says about publicly embarassing someone. And when the subject is their child, all the more reason not to do this.

We still love you though Larry!

Shalom.

who cares? they are stars... they are paid to deal with this. Boo-hoo they are hurt... Just say "no comment" and leave it at that-

How many of Marie's kids are adopted? She constantly refers to her "eight kids" like she actually gave birth to them all. I see it as pandering for votes. She is OK, but not as talented as the other girls on the show. Plus, does she HAVE to talk constantly? She can't shut her damn mouth. Maybe it is all those teeth, I wonder?

OK, Donnie, now apologize for "Puppy Love."

Blindsiding someone with such a deeply personal family issue on live tv is rude and inexcusable. Donny's first instincts were correct.

Shame on you Larry King.

My friend's teenage daughter went into rehab. Before it reached that point, the family had been through a great deal of trauma due to her addiction. I'm sure it would have been even more painful had this been a famous family and the whole world was watching and passing judgment.

Marie Osmond may be a public figure, but her son is not. He is entitled to his privacy. If the young man had made the choice to speak publically, perhaps in the hope that it might be helpful to someone else, that would be another story. Otherwise, his health matters should not have been made public by Larry King or anyone else.

Larry is losing it. I just saw a clip of Larry interviewing Pamela Anderson about plastic surgery and he said he hadn't noticed where she had the only one surgery she has admitted having. Probably her ginormous boobs are the only thing he ever sees.
