Stewart And Colbert

New York Times:

The tentpoles of Comedy Central have recorded ratings declines in the first two weeks of the writers' strike.

Both "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" and "The Colbert Report" with Stephen Colbert were forced into repeats on Nov. 5. Since then, in the demographic of viewers ages 25-to-54, "The Daily Show" is down 35 percent and "The Colbert Report" is down 28 percent versus the prior fourth quarter average.

I've been catching up on the really old shows from the late '90's at The Daily Show's website and it's interesting to see how much more actual "news" they reported, compared to the networks of that time. If you don't have the link yet, here it is:

Hey, I'm an X pat in Scotland and I'm going through Jon Daily withdrawl DAILY. Can you imagine all the sweet stuff building up. Gonna be fun when the dust settles. Americas on the cusp of great change, one way or another.

This is fairly stupid. Both of these programs are based on current events. Who the hey wants to watch old news? Under the Bush crime family watch, I am sure most of us would like to forget it asap.
But keep the faith, the Bush crime family screws up weekly so we will have something new to ridicule when the strike ends. Just a different name on the outed gay or pedophile.

The ONLY reason I'm paying attention to the strike at all is to see when TDS will be back. Will it survive - oh yea.
Not only will it survive it will flourish.
I still turn the channel at 11 o'clock - only to be disappointed.
Can't wait until this thing is resolved.

It's amazing that there is no news when the writers are on strike.

Werner Heisenberg may have been right.

Yeah, and I bet "Laugh In" reruns wouldn't do so hot, either. Current affairs shows don't do so well when the topics they're lampooning aren't on most peoples' front burner anymore.

As soon as the writers are back, the viewers will be back. With all the major news media whoring for the Republicrats, where else can you find out what's really going on?

Why BBC can't show TW3 clips.

"While we'd love to be able to offer access to the Screenonline clips for all UK and international users, we are unable to do so. This is because most of the material featured has been licensed from third parties, including Warner Bros., Sony Columbia, Carlton International, C4 and the BBC, all of whom are understandably anxious to protect their intellectual property. These organisations have generously allowed us to feature their content on the understanding that this was a free service for educational use on the premises of registered UK schools, colleges, universities and public libraries. To permit any other use - even if it is educational use - would breach the terms of our agreements with our rights holders, without whose support Screenonline would simply not exist."...Screen Online.

Intellectual property is theft!!!!

Maybe they should air the old "That Was The Week That Was" clips from 1962 and 1963?

David Frost was much funnier that Jon Stewart.

Re: my previous comment.

I hadn't noticed that it was Stelter asking the question. Pardon the redundancy.

What insight. The Daily Show and Colbert Report are showing returns and the ratings are down. Who would of thought?
