This evening on Hardball, Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee became the first presidential candidate to make a public statement on former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan's admission that he had "passed along false information" intended to "exonerate" Karl Rove and Scooter Libby in l'affaire Plame.
Huckabee: "It's stunning. It's one of those moments where I'm glad to not be a Washington insider...they are serious allegations but we don't know whether they're true...they deserve to be thoroughly investigated and the truth brought to the American people."
Of course, Huckabee's response was something of a fait accompli, seeing as how the prior discussion on Hardball centered on how Huckabee could use the McClellan announcement to highlight the fact that he wasn't a "Washington insider."
