Rudy Giuliani has a firefighter problem. Following up on earlier criticism, a group of 9/11 family members and firefighters met on Monday at Dartmouth College to launch a campaign against the former New York City mayor and current Republican presidential candidate for what they deem to be massive failures before, during and after the attacks of 9/11.

But at least one member of the FDNY continues to offer his support to the former mayor -- and may be getting paid for it.

John R. Orlando, who serves with Engine 216 in Brooklyn, New York, has been cited prominently as a Giuliani supporter. Last June, in a New York Times article detailing the mixed reviews Giuliani has among the city's 11,000-membered firefighting force, Orlando said he regularly saw Giuliani at fires despite suggestions otherwise.

Orlando was also quoted as saying the "bottom line is, I think he's been more of a friend to firefighters than I've seen in the news. I don't think all the criticism is warranted."

Did those comments come with a reward? Three months after he praised Giuliani, Orlando found himself on the former mayor's payroll. On September 28, 2007, the Giuliani campaign paid one John R. Orlando more than $1,580 for what they deemed on a campaign filing as "political strategy consulting."

When asked about the arrangement -- after repeated attempts for comment -- Giuliani spokesperson Matt McKeon questioned the question.

"Are you suggesting that firefighters aren't capable of political strategy?"

Pressed to describe what strategy, exactly, Orlando provided, McKeon replied: "I'll get back to you."

He never did.

Orlando, who is still with the FDNY, was also reached via phone. He was asked for comment about both his consulting for Giuliani and his thoughts on why the former mayor has been poorly received among his fellow firefighters. Like McKeon, he too said he would reply at a later time and never did.

During the Monday meeting, the 9/11 Parents & Families of Firefighters plotted the formation of a 527 committee to run an advertisement campaign against Giuliani's presidential campaign. "TV made him a hero, and we'll use TV to take him down," New York Fire Chief Jim Riches told ABC News. Among the issues raised were Giuliani's failure to upgrade the FDNY's faulty radio equipment, his decision to put New York's terrorist command center in the World Trade Center - a known terrorist target - and the hastiness of the post 9/11 cleanup job, which resulted in illness among many service members and the abandonment of buried bodies.

"It's our intention to set the record straight about the mistakes of the Giuliani administration," Norman Siegel, a lawyer for the group, told the Huffington Post. "The 9/11 family members have been speaking out about these issues for many years and they were listening and watching the Giuliani campaign people as they've used the story of 9/11. They decided it's enough."

Good grief. In one odious, vile package we have in Rudy all that the GOP represents. He IS their perfect candidate. He IS the GOP.

Good clip from BBC4 on Ghouliani

http://rawstory.com/rawreplay/index.php?p=70

Channel 4 News Correspondent Sarah Smith takes a look at the Giuliani record in New York City. The report is critical of Giuliani"s record on crime but saves the sharpest jabs for his performance surrounding the 9/11 attacks. Smith writes:

"At Ground Zero today they are still digging the foundations for the new freedom tower. Before 9-11 the one thing Giuliani had done was to build himself, right next to this site, an emergency command centre"

"Giuliani spent $60m on the command centre in the World Trade Centre. He installed a humidor for his cigars, monogrammed towels in bathroom, even had private elevator which was handy when he brought his mistress here at the weekends. But he also installed a 600 gallon fuel tank which meant that when burning debris hit the building it went up like a blowtorch"

"So Giuliani found himself wandering the streets because he had ignored advice to put his command centre safely underground in Brooklyn. Insisting instead it had to be near City hall."

If you put Rudy, Bush, Cheney, Mitt, McCain, Thompson, and all the other good little NEOCONS in a room with a couple of terriorist they would be shitting their pants trying to crawl over one another to get out. Then upon appearing they would say, WE KICKED THEIR ASS, YEA WE SHOWED THEM WE WON'T TOLERATE THEIR ATTACKS. Then they would all go take a shower and put on clean underwear before their news confrence to outsell one another on who's the toughest! Sorry Rudy but anyone who puts together an outfit like the last one you wore, isn't exactly going to scare anyone except maybe Calvin Klein on your wardrobe. Please all of you crawl back under your rocks and stay there, were sick to death of every single one of you. I cannot imagine anything worse then another GOPER in the WH. Makes one sick to their stomach.

Why can't the media seriously question Rudy's self perpetuating "I will save you from evil terrorists" propagandist myth?

There were many heroes on 9/11 and many heroes have been defending us from terrorists since that awful day. Rudy isn't one of them and his incessant claims to be one of them insults all of them.

In truth, Rudy was a very good "victim" on 9/11. He didn't collapse. He didn't panic. He didn't run away. He rose to the occasion. His resolute leadership and confidence were inspirational. But that certainly doesn't transform him into a terrorism expert.

Rudy didn't rescue a single person or save a single person's life. In fact, hundreds died or were injured due to Rudy's poor managerial decisions and lack of preparation during the years prior to 9/11.

Reporters will ask about defective FDNY radios or the pre-catastrophic decision to locate NYC's emergency management center in the WTC. Rudy will give his standard, evasive, non-responsive answer. And then? No follow-up question? Rudy dances away again? What gives?

logic:the three wars us white house is fighting abroad are the three sins that are defended by political governments .
usa has been very serious to keep cities to itself ,this where i say that rudy gulliani takes us white house because the standard of political protege regimes and democratic candidates are level ,that was clintons white house and comparative government ..i didnt eject the notion that negroponte isnt coming rom white house although he came rom the uno but im sure that bush did not 'decide' that negroponte should visit musharaff...and i clearly said and say 'a man from the uno must have come to console benazir bhutto incase she is losing confidence .......

TROLL INVITATIONAL:

Open invitation to any knuckle-dragging miscreant willing to take a shot at exactly WHAT in Ghouliani's record qualifies him as a counterterrorism "expert", the sack of feces he's been selling all over the country -- with the usual, stenographic assistance of the press.

Entrants who quote news stories or right-wing blogs citing counterterrorism as Rudy's "strong suit" will be beaten until unconscious.

You can't BS or at least you shouldn't be able to BS your way to the Presidency. The last guy ended up requiring a Supreme Court ruling because of it and now these miserable bastards are trying it again. I'm hopeful that when the time comes to decide the people of this country will not choose another BS administration, I'm tired and so are most of my friends. Enough already....

How dare you or anyone question the integrity of anyone associated with the lying scumbag Giuliani's campaign.
