New Hampshire Secretary of State Bill Gardner today announced that the Granite State's first-in-the-nation primary will take place on Jan. 8, the earliest date ever for a primary ballot in a presidential election year.

The much anticipated announcement came a few hours after the Michigan Supreme Court said that state's Jan. 15 primary can go ahead. Michigan is among many states bringing forward their primaries in the 2008 presidential race with the goal of having more influence.

Gardner had already made clear that regardless of the Michigan Supreme Court decision concerning that state's primary date, a January 15 was off the table for New Hampshire

Vote early, but don't vote for anyone, from any party, who wants to give citizenship to 20 million illegal aliens.

Rewarding criminal behavior is not the solution.

I am wearing a self-made "IGNORE IOWA & N.H." button.

These two states have an undeserving sense-of-entitlement that they should vote first and whittle down the choices for the rest of us.

Thanks, but no thanks. I'm just as good a judge of character as any self-entitled idiot in Podunksville, IA or Dicksville Crotch, NH.

The best way to treat Iowa and New Hampshire is to IGNORE them. The press could easily spin their self-entitlement away by saying, these two states are small and don't elect many delegates so it really doesn't matter too much in the long run who wins, the defacto national primary is February 5." Or, they could treat the Michigan and Florida primaries like real events. I care much more who wins in these two large and relevant states with large urban populations than some rural idiot who hosts an annual county fair pancake flip contest.

"IGNORE IOWA & N.H."

We can rescue our Presidential election from the tyranny of small or "swing" states by having one national primary day where everyone in every state votes at the same time and every vote has equal weight, a national direct popular vote for President in November, with a runoff in December if no one gets 50% of the vote.

It's time to do nothing less than rescue our Democracy from this quadrennial horseshit. "IGNORING IOWA AND N.H." is a place to start.

I trust my ability to pick a nominee myself and I trust yours too. I don't need Iowa's or New Hampshire's help, nor do I want it.
