I wonder if this is to be a conference on where to take the corporate war on terror next. You have to admit that it is generating a boat load of cash for the MIC and big oil.

This conference is merely another opportunity for Israel to pretend they're not expanding to absorb all of the West Bank and Gaza until every stitch of land belongs to a Jew.

When this conference fails, Olmert and his propaganda minions will be prancing around on every media network squawking about how open hearted and GENEROUS Israels offer was and the Palestinians are just terrorists who refuse to stop demanding their land and rights be respected.

Neither Israel nor the American Zionists wants peace; they want war with Iran and more ware and more war and more war until only a handful of european jews remain on the planet.

Huffpo censorship: 75% or so.

If Syria believes that the Golan Heights have been put on the table, they will be sorely surprised. The White House has stated publicly that GH is NOT "specifically" on the table, but if Syria wants to discuss it, no one will censure them.

Don't look for anything to be resolved at this meeting. If anything, Hamas and Iran will use it to escalate violence on both fronts.

These failed "peace conferences" are almost always an excuse to start a war.

The USA should make a deal with Iran and Syria to help Iraq rebuild and quit giving billions to Israel.

Like Walt & Mearsheimer state, the Palestinians are basically dealing with two Israels, the U.S. and Israel.

I love my country but we really aren't honest brokers here.

Great, now all the terror sponsoring nations can all sit in the same room and lie about how much they want peace.

Maybe the Syrians and Iranians can sit next to Dick Cheney.

But like anything this administration has done thus far, I see this conference as simply 'show' for the cameras. Doubtful if much will come of it.

I certainly will not get my hopes up.

The upcoming conference is a joke with a charade featuring Olmert, Abbas, Bush - three weak leaders try to salvage their legacies in a hastily thrown together fiasco will no good intentions of the "real principals," i.e., those politicians and political factions that see a better deal down the road. Nonetheless, time is running out for these leaders. A new generations will undoubtedly carry the false banners into the next several decades until, by their inherent unreasonableness, they will cause WW III with nukes for all.

If the United States had put its foot down long ago, this would have stopped in the fifties. We were too bust fighting communism and Arab nationalism. Now we have the "clash of civilizations." What a crock! It's our own moral failures that come back to haunt us.

Half of these nut cases see Armageddon as their salvation.

Syria was NOT going to attend but the US assured Syria that the Golan Heights occupation was going to be Addressed .
the Occupation of the Golan heights was Planned during the Paris zionist conference in 1919 (including the Litani rive in south Lebanon which they have not got yet but working on it ) on that list was the Jordan Valley which they got. All those regions are fertile and water rich .

I'm surprised to see this news item on this site. This is considered a big win for Bush, getting Syria--the last holdout--to attend.

But then, I haven't seen the spinmeisters at work yet to explain why it's a bad thing.

Syria & Iran are significant players in the region. For them not to attend would make the whole exercise pointless.

This is major news.

There is an old saying in the regions, "There is no war without Egypt, no peace without Syria."

This might be the key to the whole affair.
